anyone have a considered opinion of Apollo shafts (any good) ?

Mate Apollo are the old true temper shafts.
Dunno much about them, popular in the 80's.

Aldila and Fujikura seem to be the go

Disco is probably the full bottle on shafts

DDT just saw you have started up the game, best advice I can give as an old pro, is go to a local pro, get a package of 5 lessons and get fitted for a set of sticks, the key is been fitted, wont have to spend a lot and makes a huge difference. True temper are the only stell shafts to use, I think TT bought out Apollo and locked the door. If you want a recomendation for a pro in your area drop me a PM.....I think Philster is overseas now??

On Seniors win IMHO its an embarassment(I dont like PS ;D ) and good kick up the arse for all our "guns" other then Ogilvy, FFS the bloke has never been anything other the a very good player in OZ , I know a lot of the lads have turned off for the year, however.....

I haven't worked in a pro shop for a few years but when I last did rifle shafts were all the rage. DDT just make sure you get fitted like KFC says and FFS don't try and use a shaft that's too stiff for you. If the pro says you need senior ladies flex, don't let ego get the better of you.

Im using the project X , best shafts ive ever used, get a much straighter flight.. Shaft flexs should be a 12345 system not stiff, reg , senior, lady, its a big ego thing....one of the biggest sellers I had was a 14 degree driver with a senior flex, had single figure blokes smokin 20 metres further

Yeah for sure. A spaghetti shaft makes fellas swing it easier which can only be a good thing.

I vaguely remember the project X. Rifle style right? Slightly lower and quicker flight?

DDT, if you have the cash I'd recommend any Mizuno game improvement type sticks. Second hand ones are fine too as long as they are pretty close to the specs the pro tells you. They'll be good as you start out but unlike most game improvement type heads they'll keep you going well into single figures.

Do you have an opinion on the KBS tour shafts? I look at various golf forums and there appears to be a slight leaning to them over the rifle shafts. Was looking at MP 68's with KBS shafts now that the $ is strong.

Re Peter Senior didn't he go broke through some poor hotel investments in the 80's/90's? Appears to be making hay now, on SEN they suggested he loves banking the cash nowadays, maybe because of his previous financial troubles?

PS has a bloody awful swing, same with Peter Fowler.
Senior just bloody chops down on it, Fowler has far too much movement downstairs.

On the coverage....I CANNOT STAND WAYNE GRADY

What is the story with Mizuno

Years ago it was a brand that only the Japs used, now they are everywhere.
Even bought some Mizuno drivers myself  only because they are black and yellow.

Bought the 9 and a half driver with a stiff shaft, yep an ego problem. When you get it, bloody good. I find that its very easy to smother if you get a bit quick on it.

Also bought the 3 and a 5. Yep a 5 wood ;D, playing like a granny.

ever heard of hybrid clubs? ;D

Good advice re getting fitted by a pro (beware of Henry Griffiths pros though) & appropriate shafts. My current driver is a 12 deg reg Ping & goes much better than any 10deg thing ive had in the past. Id also 2nd that you dont have to spend a fortune.

Pretty harsh on Senior guys. The beauty of golf is that you dont have to be 30, bench 100kgs or have the text book swing to win. Would you all have said the same sort of thing had the shark or Watson won the british open recently? I cant stand the broomstick putter, should be illegal though. Senior did several trade days when i worked a pro shop & youd struggle to find a nicer bloke.

Mizuno was suprisingly bigish in the US nearly 10yrs ago so not too suprised if you say its growing here.

Wayne Grady is Golfs Ian Chappell, got tougher and better since he finished ::)

Not many pretty swings come out of the Edwin stable, however some are pretty effective, I dont know of too many he has built from ground up though, most guys have been gun amateurs atleast before they went to"the Cult" :hihi

Fowler is very robotic, hey Micheal.......sensational short game though

Pretty much the best blades going around :help whats a blade!

They are one of the few companys who actually deliver with the specs you asked for

On the subject of Golf stuff, anyone used a laser distance finder?
Also, how would you get around the problem of looking like a total bozo

Those sureshots are absolute crap, a rip off with no battery life. AVOID

Played in practice rounds with mates who have them, pretty acurate ......I actually find the sureshots really good

Had a hit today with the new Taylor Made irons today that should be on the shelves around Feb/ March and they are impressive, if i can suck a 9 iron back 15 feet, anyone can and they come out so sweet off the clubface.

Lee Westwood, Tiger and numerous other pros have a 5 wood.

i copied their set up: driver, 3 wood; 5 wood 3-9 irons; pitching wedge, sand; lob; and putter

i've got a 460cc Taylormade tour driver 8.5 ; Nike 3 wood; Wilson 5 wood; Wilson irons and wedges; cleveland lob and some generic putter (I've got my eye on a Scotty Cameron).
