Golf

Love Brookwater Mopsy , haven’t played it for years now , houses were starting to pop up all around the course last time I was there.

Augusta’s greens have a few buried elephant greens a bit like the old , however it’s slopes are mainly just use of the natural terrain , that slope that runs on 9 and 10 is dramatic ,as they say TV dosent do it justice .
Here's a Nicklaus story on holes 11 & 12, next door to 9 & 10, from a journo and a golf club manufacturer.

"I went there (Augusta) one time to meet Jack Nicklaus. I had some clubs for him to look at and he was filming his 18 favorite major championship holes, and #10 and #12 were on the list.

So I went over to 12, and he was standing on the tee talking about how difficult the hole was. He said that one of the things that make this hole so difficult is the wind.

So, he takes a handkerchief out of his pocket—and this is not on queue—(Clay now assumes the role of Jack, dangling an imaginary handkerchief from his fingers) and he says, “Now you see where that’s going?” (Clay mimics a leftward wind with his fingers) “Now look down at the green.”

The 12th flag was going the other way. “Now look over at 11 green.” And it was going a different way… 11 was going this way, 12 was going this way, and his handkerchief was going this way. The wind was going three different directions. He said, “Now that is what makes this hole so difficult.”

It was just classic. You couldn’t make this stuff up and I just thought it was really cool.

Then he mentioned that he never aimed right of the bunker. He walked down to the green and said, “I never aim to the right of the bunker and here’s why.”

Then he took a ball and dropped it about [six inches] off the right side of the bunker. It hit the ground and went straight into the water.

He said, “Now that’s why I never aim to the right of the bunker.” It was all priceless stuff to get to witness."

Geniuses man :eyes

Brookwater is a great track Mr B, my favourite up here.

There's some very picturesque holes. Norman did a great job with the design.

There’ll be a few players a bit pissed off that the afternoon groups got their play suspended for the day.

Speaking of Day’s, what a blunderous finish.

Shaping up as a Cupcakes v Rahm battle although no course in the majors allows for big, low score runs like this one.

Geez lucky no-one was hurt when those trees came down.

Could have been a disaster.

Heard them say only two times has someone got to -12 in the second round and not gone on to win the major.

Both G Norman, 96 and in an Open.

Either Brooks wins or the LIV curse begins.

Casnnot believe Day's errors. Morikawa played virtually same pitch to well within 1m. Bennet went just over the back. Anything better than laying up only to chip it in the water halfway across. Even a bogey than a double!
Doubt he has the mindset to win yet for a while - doubts himself; confidence falls away. Just amateur efforts - both 3 putts were just timid and poor reads.
He needs to find some real conviction over those closing holes for any redemption.

I sort of got half his explanation for the 15th stuff up but didn’t get the other half. End of day, very very bad shot.

Even his penalty/recovery shot was very unconvincing.

Who dares wins; and vice versa. It's just a really odd time to make such poor mistakes.

Rahm finishing his 2nd round is 11 under through 15, just one behind Koepka.

Commentator Brian Crowell is a schmuck.

I'm catching up with the 2nd rd "catch-up" session on Kayo belatedly after getting back from the G and watching some of tonight's games.
So, I know it's quaint and "sweet" that they have past winners play forever at the Masters, but do I really want to see footage of Sandy Lyle (+20) and Larry Mize (+13) making further bogies # ?

Also 2 withdrawals - Na, after 9, and Zalatoris beforehand. But no start for Lucas Herbert who was 51st in qualifying order.

# Must have been great for Min Woo Lee and young Aussie amateur Crowe's chances having to drag along with old Larry making bogies for 2 rounds.

Oh wow! But now I finally see one par-saving putt by Cam Smith. I'm calling BS on the all this Augusta glory; it's a load of corny crap.

Yeh the yanks love their corn.

Although golf is more relatable watching old guys with man boobs bogey it around.

Interesting position, koepka by 4 but when they resume Rahm has a makeable birdie putt and Koepka a missable par putt so could be a 2 shot lead with 29 holes left. So much golf to play out.

Great although bit weird seeing Kenny Callender doing a report on the Masters for Today show for Channel 9 on Friday morning. Was unaware he was a golf expert.

Report was something like this

Scottie Schleffer leads the Masters after a six under 66.
Scheffler is expected to win with Schauffele, Spieth and Schwartzel also likely to be in contention.
It was great to also see Adam Scott and caddie Steve Williams back together ten years after winning.

Irishman Seamus Power from Sligo who had two holes in one in the Par 3 competition is also in contention. On the holes in one's he used a seven iron on the sixth hole and a six iron on the seventh.

Sultry Spaniad from San Sebastian Sergio Garcia was smarting from his 77 today.

Then there was Sepp Straka the Austrian from Salzburg near Switzerland. He is the son of a strudel (popular Austrian desert) maker. He is the son of Sepp senior and Sharon Straka

The strudel shop is called Seth Straka Senior Super Sized Sensational Strawberry Strudels. They sell for seven euros

OMG! And among all that nonsense - "Schwartzel also likely to be in contention" ?
