That's an amazing offer, Mopsy, wish I could take you upon it but impossible this year.
I'd love to pick your brain on the ticketing process though. I'm planning to go in either 2023 or 24 and happy to spend whatever it takes.
What would be the best way to go about securing tickets?
As far as I’m concerned TBR, if you want to be guaranteed the best Masters experience you go with one of the organised tours.
There are many Aussie companies that run them, but back in 2014 I went with Teed Up Tours.
They have a couple of different Masters options, I chose the one that included 3 rounds of golf at Pinehurst, 4 days at Augusta (Tues,Wed,Fri and Sun) and 2 rounds at local courses in the Augusta area.
Its the extra add ons these tour groups can offer that makes it worthwhile imo.
For example, Teed Up will organise all sorts of extras for you. Meant to play locally on the Saturday but would rather go to Augusta? They will sort it for you. Want to play Wolf Creek prior to tour starting? They will sort it for you.
Managing Director of Teed Up, Mike Mosher, is a member of Sage Valley, so can organise a round there for all that want to.
These tour groups make it all a stress free experience, transfers to and from course, accommodation etc all sorted.
As for the tickets I got in the ballot, that was pure luck for me. Not sure if you know how it works, but it goes like this.
Simply go to the Masters website, register your details, and wait.
Around late May each year the club e-mails you asking if you would like to apply for tickets for next years tournament.
You can apply for up to 4 tickets per day, and you can apply for all 7 days. Prices are $75 for practice rounds and $115 for tournament days.
But you will only ever get tickets for 1 day. Once you are selected for tickets you are pulled from any other days still up for grabs. It’s then up to you to access other days tickets to compliment what you got in the ballot.
And of course it’s not easy to get tickets in the ballot. It’s free to apply, and you only pay if you are lucky enough to get tickets. I would hate to think how many people apply worldwide. Millions perhaps?
Thats my two bob’s worth. Others may have some great suggestions as well.
