Golf

You could see him yell out C'mon Aussie's when he birdied 18.

Well done Son! :clap :clap

Great that he actually won it rather than someone else lose it. Cabrera and he were both huge under pressure.

How good was that! I was an hour and a half late to work today - was not moving. Brilliant by Scott, bad luck to Day - he'll win one soon.

hutstar must be off his nut by now.

Yeah I hope Day can win one...thats the only sad thing about today....his struggles on the 70th and 71st holes after playing so well all week.

He has been close 3 times now (well probably twice given he was second to McIlroy at the US Open but was about 8 shots back) so hopefully he can jag one.

Australian golf is in a pretty good state at the moment.

proud to be an Aussie today..

so long overdue..

his cmon aussie was priceless to see on the 18th...

well done Adam Scott. :clap

Reaction from Andrew Maher and KB on SEN, good stuff:

I punched the air exactly the same when the putt rolled in.

Let's not forget Leishman, what a great week. Lovely languid swing and great composure, won't be the last we see of him.

Onya Scotty what a great day it was for Australia Jason & Marc as well great stuff

Scotty made all Australia's great golfers proud.
The roar of the crowd when he putts that birdie at the 18th makes the hair stand up on the back of the neck every time.

This is the first time I watched a Masters tournament from go to woe (I don't even play golf)and this has changed my closed view of the sport.
The last time I was really excited watching golf was when Norman killed it at Royal Melbourne.
But now I have 3 more heroes I will be following closely from now on in.

Bloody magic tournament.

What a course also.

I still remember when Norman lost that day when it was on triple M radio.
I think he was 4 in front and then choked.

Anyway Norman is partly responsible and an inspiration for all the great golfers we have today so he can look back on today with some pride as he should.

Thought Day would win when he stood on 16 tee. His tee shot on 16 was where he lost it. Not really a difficult shot, pretty straight forward to end up 20-30 ft below hole. Hit a pull and reckon it shook him a bit - putter was the wrong choice from that far off the green (Faldo noted this before he played the shot)given how much rain had fallen. And reckon he took too twice as long to play his 2nd shot at 17 as he would normally take, should never change your pre-shot routine.

They don't just hand out majors you really have to earn them. Scott had paid his dues, Day just got a little closer.

Yep, lost it on 16. It was his to win at that stage and I kind of felt that with Cabrera butchering 13, He went from in the mix to 2 ahead perhaps too quickly - and suddenly he is on 16 tee with a tournament to win or lose. It was a bad tee shot, but it was a pretty simple second shot, bad club selection then bad execution. 17 was a poor second shot (i know he said it only needed a couple more feet, but that was straight at the stick, no room for error over there) and his bunker shot was nearly impossible, in fact he did well just to get it on the right tier. His time will come.
I reckon Scott was really lucky having Leishman with him, made a big difference. Apart from the Aussie factor (and I noted them chatting all day, must have helped, especially when they had to wait a fair bit over the last 5 holes), Leish actually played really well, and hits is similar to Scott. It felt like Leish was pacing him all day.
