GAME DAY Tiges v Suns

In fairness it was a horrible game where no one stood out. Ross could’ve been a direct swap for Prestia but no, we play him on the wing and then send probably our best winger into the forward line. WTF. Anyway Ross is too good for VFL and not quite AFL standard. Give him a 6 week block in his best position and stop with this one week in two weeks out - must be sapping his confidence.

Ross wasn't played on the wing yesterday. We made an even worse decision (so we could play Ross through the middle) and rotated Sonsie and Cotch there for nearly a half until we realised they couldn't play there (most of us could have probably answered that before the game).

I don't necessarily mind trying Marlion in the forward line but if we were going to do that we should have picked a proper wingman in Banks or Hugo.

I have lost interest in footy, the way it is played nowadays. So much of the same. Kicking short to uncontested players. Eventually long to a contest i50. Ball usually turned over and the other side does the same thing. Transfer play. Kick short. Kick short. Long kick i50, scramble, outnumber short kick to teammate. Kick short to teammate. Transfer play. Rinse repeat.

It's boring to watch. Basically a runners game. The lack of player duels and contests makes it dull at times.

From the VFL , we can look at it that 4 youngsters were our bests , however 3 of them are 3 of our worst kicks

Gillon's game now an insult to diehard fans who pay darn good hard earnt money to follow it. I have watched it since Captain Blood pulled on the Yellow & Black. Four rules The Stand, Kicking in after a point , deliberate out of bounds & dissent are killing the game. Wonder what new rules Dillon will want to impose on us.

True but our skills in front of goal are poor & have been for years.
To get it right - ALL our skills are poor. Head coach is the same, but assistants have changed significantly over last 2/3 years. That's the difference maybe.

Watching the last quarter, just can't believe how bad that ball moves against us. Luck or not. We really need to go through many pre-season drilling sessions to learn how to control and pass properly. So many other teams seem to do it way better than us.

Scared is a good phrase. We certainly looked scared in front of goal.
Exactly. We do look scared in front of goal. Years ago, guys would fight to get the chance to kick a goal. Now they want to pass it off from within 35m. See Soldo yesterday. That stopped any chance of a comeback. There is no leadership left out on the ground. Cotch cannot get a goal and has wanted to pass off for years; has no power in his leg. Dusty either does the swing out right and leaves the kick out there, or wastes opportunities by insisting on stupid dribble kicks. Short does the former constantly. Only Jack is confident on having a shot. Cumbo to an extent but wonky run-up.

How bad is it that a very young beanpole is already presenting as one of our best forwards after a few games?

It's pathetic for professional footballers on big $$$ that are training all through the week.
There is clearly no leadership from within the coaching crew either. It's like us members/fans hiring a taxi but the driver is on Ls.

I don't know what happened preseason, but our skills and movement is rubbish.

I know how you feel Jazzy.

Then some technical infringement happens and someone gets a goal from a 50 metre penalty …. Feels wrong

Chin up folks, Antman reckons Ross will be our next Lambert.

So at least we have that

The only similarity between Lambert and Ross is that you wrote them both off, much to your perpetual shame when it comes to Lambert who became a true tiger immortal. I was on him early, you weren't.

Ross may yet be a bust, but he's already had a better career than Liam McBean.

We used to be fun to watch.
17 to 20 we had tricks, we sliced and diced.
not we are stodgy old porridge, looks like the players are running in cement boots.
I blame the coaches they’ve taken the fun factor out of the game.
