GAME DAY Tiges V Giants

He's gone so far backwards from 2017/2018. In 2018 he kicked 1.2 goals and .6 goal assists a game, this year 0.8 and 0.3. Tackles 2.9 to 2.2. Contested possies 4.5 to 3.5. Contested marks .6 to .1. Marks inside 50, 1.5 to .8, tackles inside 50 1.3 to .8. At 25yo you'd expect him to be playing his best footy. Whether it's change in game style, a poorer team therefore less opportunities or just out of form, it doesn't really matter, his time appears up. Being uncontracted where he is atm isn't good for him. There may be suitors.
I thought Castagna signed a 2 year deal?

This from FoxSports at the end of April this year...

"Vlastuin’s signature comes after Richmond also re-signed fellow defender Noah Balta

The Tigers still have several key players unsigned beyond this season, headlined by star midfielder Shai Bolton, Shane Edwards, Daniel Rioli, Kamdyn McIntosh, Jason Castagna, Jack Riewoldt and David Astbury."

So noticeable I wondered if he's been suffering from some concussion effects. He has copped a lot of hits from opposition rucks including from bigger or heavier opponents, like Darcy and Mummy. Gets little protection from umps from high hits.

There was that terrible giveaway goal to Mummy near the end tonight. Really not like Nank. And not one to complain. Very tough sort of footballer that would just wear it and not report a problem.
When the poor lug has effectively battled on his own all season with only sparing support it is no wonder he has burned out and needs rest and recuperation. The game seems to have reverted to a two ruck combo so this is why we have missed the size and hardness of Soldo so much to share the load.

Ralphsmith and Martyn re signed.

Of that list CJ, Rioli, Soldo, Baker, Stack are must signs. Dow Cumberland and Mansell also. Astbury and Houli probably should retire. Interesting to see what we do with george and kmac.

Very interesting to see what we do with Castagna, he must be a least on thin ice after having a terrible year and being dropped.

Was thinking the same. If we are pivoting to more of a kicking / possession game plan can't see how george fits in. Could go from un dropable to delisted within weeks.

They'll give him a chance to adapt. No way we delist George, at worst he has a 1 year deal on the table or someone like GC would want him.
