GAME DAY Tiges V Eagles

Look it’ll sting. Everyone at the club will of course be gutted.

And those saying football has gone past us in 2021 are wrong.

I’ll say it again - Dimma and co. are simply trying to nurse us through the season. Get enough wins to challenge.

September will be a choking, stifling phone box like it always is. All those teams getting away with pretty lace-out footy won’t get it when the pressure ramps up.

We are still kings of finals footy intensity and this will be precisely the element certain other teams won’t be ready for.

Be philosophical if you can. 5-6 on the ladder at the end of it all won’t be an impossible position, not by a long shot.
I'll be happy with 8th come Sept .......................then "look out Baby", it's our time of the Year !!!

Nank, Prestia, Astbury & Lynch missing & they basically red-lined with a little help from their 19th man to beat us on their home deck. Tough to lose the 4pts but take the late lead away and the result was in line with expectation. . StK, GC, Coll next 3 games should launch us into the run home, bullish... buy...
I'm not because we are now staring at an EF away, and they now have zero reason to fear us after tonight.

Yes, he had someone on his left but George why bomb it straight to hurn with 90 secs left, we were in front after all.
Dusty at least tried to make things happen, where was the invisible captain,. 12 disposals

We lost because we turned it over which resulted in gifted goals to the eagles. 2 goals gifted by short who gave away a 50 and vlustuin's turnover out of defence, both goals. Even that last play broad gets outmuscled by Ryan, he wins that contest we win the game as there was under a minute to go.
If Skip had 12 disposals, then Brooke must have been doing the Stats.

10 goal win minimum in each of these games. Get our percentage up and set ourselves for a home EF. I think top 4 is gone. Can’t see us winning 9 in a row in the form we’re in. Even then it may not be enough.

Get angry Tigers and put these *smile* teams to the sword. Stop *smile* around!
Exactly, killer extinct might not be PC these days with this woke bull$hit crowd and all, but it still has a place in the game of Aussie rules if you want to let your opponents know you are far from done and dusted.

Where was Graham in the last qtr?
Yeo had 8 inside 50's.
He looked like he couldn't walk at half time

Just watched Dimma’s presser. He was diplomatic but you could tell he was seething. As he should be.

We win 7 of our last 9 minimum. With that head of steam they will fear us when it matters. Nobody wants us in the finals, particularly Demons/Dogs. It baffles me why people get so caught in these mid season games, 4pts aside we got what we needed out of that game. Worse case scenario we finish 5th or 6th with a home final & a chip on our shoulder

The Tigers of 17-20 may have lost in Perth to WC but they wouldn't have lost from 19 points up 12 to play. Definite problems to be confronted.

Gave up a 6 goal lead to Sydney on our home deck in 2017 about the same time of year. Not ideal no doubt but hardly the walls caving in. 4 weeks on the road v a team sleeping in their own bed and lost by a coin flip. Fingers crossed no more lockdown in Melbourne & we have the dream run home.

Honestly a lot of emotional jiberish on here .
No need to panic , there’s some great signs , momentum is building, some players are been found out , however there’s replacements on the way . I think we’re looking better then we did this time last year .
If the surface was up to standard , Dusty doesn’t slip and we go 23 points up , simple whole different day , however

To generous there your not looking at the issues. Our skills and kicking in general have been a let down this year along with schoolboy mistakes. How many times did we give the Eagles a chance to get back in the game and it bite us.We got away with poor starts previously in last quarters not this time.None of our senior heads had composure or could steady the ship don't sweep it under the carpet our issues.

Bad loss, we should have won, we had a big enough lead in the last to hold on. Very very disappointing.

3 things lost us the game: bad decisions, skills not up to scratch and woeful umpiring.

The forward pressure game is dead, well at least in home and away games, we'll see if it changes in the cauldron which is finals.

Our small forwards are not positioning well. I am not surprised Jack is trying to mark when we think he should be bringing it to ground, the only players in front of the pack are the opposition. The small forwards have to get in better positions. The whole idea of having small forwards bring massive pressure and hold the ball in just no longer seems to work so their role must change.

We should have slowed the game down near the end but that really isn't the way we play so keeping it moving is still the way to go, but they have to execute better and play the percentages better. Too many turnovers really cost us.

The change in game style is a response to the change in rules, but we really need to nail our passes better, way too many are off the mark. I don't know how they can fix this up mid season but we must adjust to the way the game is played and that means better execution.

The umpiring was an embarrassment. The "dangerous" tackle was not a dangerous tackle, the Richmond player deliberately made sure the WCE player went down on his side so he wouldn't get done for in the back. The throw by Grimes was a handball, mind you, the throw at the other end by a WCE player not 30 seconds later - that was the real deal, genuine chuck. The kick to Kennedy wasn't close to 15m. In a game decided right at the end by less than a goal this makes a huge difference, the difference between winning and losing. We should have won anyway, but it sure doesn't help when the umpires give a nice shove to the momentum shift that WCE got.

We're not gone, there were some decent signs. At times it did look like a Richmond game. Lambert came back well. Houli was good for a lot of the game. The back line did well considering they really are not tall enough to compete against that forward line. Vlastuin was back, he was really good for 90% of the game. We have players to come back - expecting us to be able to compete in the ruck for 4 quarters against NicNat when we are missing both Nank and Soldo is not realistic. Prestia back will make a substantial difference. Nank back will also make our defence taller. Chol is not a first ruck but he is getting better and can be a second ruck, he had moments and probably more of them than he used to have, but just does not seem to be able to switch on for the whole game, no idea why. Cotchin will improve.

Castagana has to lift and play more of a crumbing small forward, as does Rioli - either that or they shouldn't be playing. Blocking space simply ain't working, new role or out.

Caddy, the game seems to have passed him by. If he can get to where the ball is about to go he can be effective and it makes up for the lack of pace, but he rarely does this now.

It is going to be tough, but we can win finals, we do have players coming back. Time to take a breather, the Match Committee need to make some tough decisions, then reload and go for it.

Go Tiges.

DS
Did anyone else spot that incident with 3:40 to go in the 2nd qtr when Bolton was caught holding the ball then they tried to stir him up? He was on his back with the tackler on top of him so two WC players come along to scruff the hair of the tackler to say well done but the second WC player also gives Bolton a squeeze to the throat. So Bolts gets up and chases the guy to remonstrate. Where was the umpire looking? The free kick should have been reversed. Probably WA umpires?

I think the senior heads have a few credits in the bank , as disappointing it is to lose that one , pretty rare this group has let one slip like that.

it’s also June , we’ve proven we start to build now , also Nank doesn’t allow Nic Nat 2 goals and 15 touches . Let’s not forget it’s the toughest task in footy the Eagles at the Pot

Awful loss - and the thing was that Eagles were not great - we simply could not do the job when it counted. But - every other year it’s accepted that the road trip to Perth us the toughest assignment in football. We did it twice in 2 weeks and were in Sydney the whole time rather than at home. Doesn’t absolve the players from some poor skill errors etc but has to be a factor in the fatigue that maybe led to those skill errors in the last 10 minutes. Oh and the umps- sheesh.
