GAME DAY - Tiges v Dogs

Carrying to many players past it? Who else should be replaced and by who?
We had I think 7 players who had played 25 games or under. They had 1.
Right on. Tigers average age 25yrs 11months, Bulldogs 27 and 1.

Get the kids in we need a freshen up and the right kids Hugo aren't up to it fullstop Graham is up and down.We a to slow to one paced.

Smashing down raining in the last would have been the time to sub Sampson off and inject MRJ

MJ had only 7 possessions and zero goals in VFL in similar conditions today and has had only 18 possessions and 2 goals in 3 AFL games this year as well as disposal as poor as Cumbo was today but at least Cumbo had it 21 times despite the horrendous decision making when roaming down back.

Lol Cotchin sub

Why should any other player care about results when we are so clearly nursing the ex-captain to a milestone.

Wasted year looming, should never have enlisted Cotch and Jack for another campaign. Just a heavy load to carry now and distracting for all concerned.

Should’ve gone for a development year looking forward to a finals berth in 2024.

Is it possible that, as a consequence of the stand rule, Dimma has gone down the path of turning us into a fast ball movement football team?

When the conditions suit, as they did in the 2nd qtr, we looked awesome.

Where wet weather football once played into our hands when we played chaos style, it may now be that wet conditions just don’t suit our new style of play. A few poor turnovers when trying to move the ball quickly point to this.

I don’t think all is lost just yet, we may just be unlucky that 2 of our first 4 games have been played in poor conditions at a time of year you wouldn’t normally expect them.

If indeed it is a new game style we are trying to implement it will take a bit of time to fine tune. I remain positive about our team and what they can achieve this year.

Yeah maybe MRJ wasn't the answer, and disappointing that he didn't dominate VFL

Just seemed like Cotch was a strange choice as sub. If he needed a rest, then rest him

For his pressure
Pressure's not the issue I don't think, we had way more tackles and I suspect pressure acts (will find out soon). Cumbo had as many tackles today as Maurice had in all 3 games and Graham has the most pressure acts by a fair margin this year so was a big loss. Maurice needs time to get his confidence back. We can't carry a player who has 6 effective disposals in his previous 2 games no matter how good their pressure is. Hopefully he had a good game in the 2s today.

Cumbo second guessing himself. Let the forwards play on instinct to their strengths.

Cotch was actually my preferred sub but did not have the impact i'd hoped :(

I thought Cumbo was poor tonight.

But bloody hell, things happen when he's near the ball. Genuine X factor

We need to keep playing him.

His decision making and skills will improve with experience. He torched the footy a lot tonight

Wow really? I thought we were very quick today, played too quick at times. Needed to control the flow a bit more. I think 7 players under 50 games is plenty to have in a team at any 1 time.

Which ever coach established the set play of switching from the HB D50 to the defensive end of the centre square should be sacked… it happened waaaay too many times to be coincidence…. Trying that when in a full press in wet weather is amateur hour!! And don’t get me started in the lack of forward entry structure!!!!

Whoever is in charge of skills and coordination needs to wear clown shoes and join the circus.

Perpetual bad skills by foot and now by hand to go along with a has been game plan.

Yep agree wasn't his best game, too many mistakes, yet still had 21 disposals (6th), 11 contested (3rd), 6 tackles (5th), 10 score involvements (equal 1st) and 2 goal assists (equal 1st). Hard to imagine what his game will look like when he puts everything together.

Just back from the game.

I could go on about the shoddy umpiring, at least 3 goals directly related to them. 2 dodgy frees in the last to Naughton and McComb and a non free in the 1st half when Naughton dropped the ball over his shoulder. Awful umpiring. They were ok for the middle part but when the Doggies needed them they were there. Dusty and Lynch were mauled all night forward but were given nothing.

Past that though, OMG that 1st quarter was so frustrating. WTF were we doing. Playing like the ground was completely dry when it was soaking wet. We were so focused on handballing that we didn't take the kick when it was on. At 1 point in the 1st I think we were something like 43 kicks and 48 handballs!! The Dogs were the opposite for pretty much the whole game, constantly looking to kick an take territory which we all know is everyones 1 wood in the wet.

Whilst the umpires cost us, so did our start. We made poor decisions (Bakes 1st half was clean, but gee his decision making was awful. When we got the ball forward, we looked like scoring, even in the 2nd half, but we just struggled to get it forward. We corrected that handball heavy gameplan in the 2nd and showed it on the scoreboard so you think, cool, we'll do that in the 2nd half and we should be too good for them.

For some reason then we get back into the 3rd (and it had started raining again) and we go straight back to the heavy handball gameplan.

Clearances, pufftt, people will see we lost because of that, we didn't. We lost because we kept trying to move the ball by hand in the wet and ended up running into trouble.

He must be low on confidence also.

Had a ripping end to last season, yet couldn't make the team early while Hooch tries to make him a fullback or something

Yeah I get the get the kids in. In theory that’s a great idea. But who should we bring in?
We already had 7 players under 25 games today.
We had 8 of our guys play VFL today. No one stood out. 2 got injured.
