Game day Tigers V The World

He hurt his left ankle tonight in the 2nd quarter. I can't remember which leg her did in the 17 GF.
Think left one in the 17 GF which ended to be a bad ‘ syndesmosis injury”, similar to I think Tom Lynch..

I know he broke his ankle I think but I also thought it was quite serious and he had the dreaded syndesmosis as well.

Hope someone with a better memory can confirm or clarify the above.

Cause I think they are both the same thing.

Ankle injury.

I think he just rolled it tonight. It was in front of me in the 2nd quarter, he ran back and the Cats guy checked inside and thats when he rolled it. It looked very sore when he was trying to get off, did the team thing and stayed there until we got a stoppage over on the members wing (he did it on the Shane Warne stand wing).

For him to come out and play as well in the 2nd half, I suspect it was a rolled ankle, possibly had a jab at half time, so I guess it will depend how it comes up tomorrow. Its nice to have an 8 day break between tonight and Dreamtime though to hopefully let it settle.

Our stars are finding touch .

Also, we have a serious star on our hands in Ryan.
His ruck work was sublime at times.

Thanks for that Poshman.

Definitely got a jab you suspect.

Not bad a ‘blind turn’ in the last.

Just got in, great night.

Was impressed with the grit shown in the 2nd half by the boys with center clearances breaking even or so, made a huge difference. Geez it would be great to have Lynch and Nank in this side atm. I reckon Dimma made the right moves in the middle.

Sampson is a real competitor - this kid will blossom into a great player with a bit more time, craft and adding some mass. Though Balta bounced back well and Broady had a cracker.

From the first bounce I felt the intent and intensity was there that I have'nt seen for some time and was keen to see if we could sustain it, wrapped that we did. Seeing Cotchin crumbing packs and slotting them had me thinking we ain't losing this one....the chaos / tackling / pressure game was back and the Cats could'nt deal with it.

Really need to build on what we saw tonite for next week, pretty sure Rioli will be OK and Hopper was a corky. Hopefully the Paddle Pops will touch up the Junkies tomorrow nite up in Brisvegas.

Reckon we'll need to win at least 10 more games to make finals - could be shades of 2016 again. It'll be drawing a long bow but who knows ?

Lets enjoy the ride.

One thing about the experience at the G tonight.

God it felt good to boo Tom Stewart. I'm sure it didn't affect him. But it was very cathartic. We absolutely gave it to him on the boundary. And he deserved every decibel of it.

I would have found it hard not to chuck my pie at him.

Agree for 2 reasons I saw.

1) stepped on Jack's foot early 1st quarter
2) 100% smugness when Mansell got the HTM free on him....shaking his *smile* head.

The "nice guy' media storm from the cats last year subdued his reception.

He's a "good guy".

Damien is always self-improving, as a coach.
That is why he inspires the very best performances from the players.
Career-best performances, so far, from Mansell and Ryan.
Miller was excellent last week too, gaining the secondary disposal in the ruck, the clever mark at the base of the pack.
It is a credit to Ivan Maric too, inspiring the players.

Wow, nice win.

What was impressive was the 4 quarter effort.

It looked different, even different to when we played Melbourne. Yes, we applied pressure but the way the game is played at the moment there was so much attempting to run off other players and link up, by both teams, that pressure looks different. Looks more like they are trying to harass the opposition players than the pressure of 5 years ago. We did the harassing quite well tonight, you could see a few handball chains by Geelong where each player who got the ball had less time than the previous one. Maybe we are learning how pressure works with the stand rule and the fact it is harder now to prevent the opposition finding space.

Played more like a team tonight too, more options when a player was being tackled, more outlets, more running through packs to get the ball. It was still noticeable we kick to a static player too often and I still want to see more movement in the forward line as we enter 50, but an improvement.

In contrast the Geelong players are constantly on the move and kicking to players on the move. Their short passes were more accurate too, we still miss too many of these. It is damned difficult to hold their forward line. Hawkins and Cameron are always worth a bag of goals, but Balta improved and Broad was simply fabulous all night, did a brilliant job on Cameron. I was thinking at maybe half or three quarter time that Cameron will inevitably pop up and get a goal eventually, it happened but he was nullified all night.

We got it done, beat Geelong, and geez does it feel good or what.

Had a function I could not get out of tonight but kept checking the scores all night.

Boys must have played well & lead from start to finish.

Great to see both great men get amongst the goals.
