Yes this is clearly a side down on confidence but these are senior players who are leading by example - badly.
Miller has always been an introverted player who will ripen later than others, but has been rushed into the first ruck role and is understandably struggling given his lack of continuity.
He should not be the focus of supporter discontent imho.

Our backline is missing an intercept mark type player. Being undermanned obviously isn’t helping.

Unfortunately, yes. If he played for the Cats he would have been back next week with their ‘good blokes’ discount.
I don’t agree we’ve taken the hawthorn approach. We’ve got 5 or so players in there under 20 games that’s part of the future. It’s a lot of changes to the 23 including a new midfield. Now we have new ruck and forward setup. It’ll take time for everyone to gel and understand each other’s strengths and limitations. We have zero confidence presently and playing like it. I hate that analogy of changing tyres while the car is moving but that’s what we’re doing.

Had nine players with under 25 games against Sydaknee, way to many to be able to expect a consistent four qtr game. Simply need to keep pushing as much game time as possible into our squad of youngsters n cop whatever happens this year. We're gunna need a few of them to be able to take over positions by seasons end, not just fill a hole for a week or two.
Papley is one hell of a player.

He is a good player but it doesn’t help when we hardly had a player goal side of him all night.

Speed of the ball coming into the Swans forward line maybe TripleS? Swans certainly smashed us in centre clearances (19 to 11 or something). Assuming each of their centre clearances led to an inside-50 then they are 6 on 6, 8 times more than us.
Also, Papley is a gun. Annoying and dislikeable as an oppo for sure but I'd love him to bits if he was in our team.
The way he played in the second half last weekend he needed 4 taggers.
I agree, but I think there's more. Even when we do get the ball in our forward line a bit faster Lynch still has 2 or 3 hangers on. We need to be offering more than 1 target and dragging defenders away from Lynch by kicking to other options some of the time.
We need to be ganging up on opposition key forwards, we need to be defending the drop of the ball better too.
Papley is an exceptional player, that's why you need to gang up on him!
