Game Day - Tigers V Swans

Truth be told we all thought we were a Hopper and Taranto away from winning a flag so while it may screw us for years i do think it was the right call. Issue is we needed to surround them with some speed. Our entire midfield apart from Shai when he gets in there are one paced. Lambert, Sheds even Dusty was explosive. We dont have any of that anymore.
Honestly take Tarranto & Hopper out of our midfield now & it’s pretty empty !

I thought going into this season with them plus Prestia Bolton Martin Cotchin plus some others looked great ! We seem to be getting beaten week in week out & in there.

Yes they were recruited with the aim of a push for one last tilt at it but you do t give out 7 year deals to help for one year , they were also brought in to be the main piece of our midfield moving forward past the Cotchin’s etc era

I disagree on the last tilt and a 7 year deal.
They know that our stars on the way out. They are our building blocks for the next 7 years

Agreed , that’s what I was trying to imply ! Yes it would have helped any last tilt this year but going forward the new midfield will be built around them.

Swans turned themselves around within 3 years with a combination of youth and experience.
Reckon we are on the right track.

God I hope not. They might be support players. They aint that good. Played in a team famous for folding.

Agree, they were brought in to be the cream to a number of stars and together they all looked strong on paper - what no one really anticipated was the sudden decline / lack of form of our existing stars, Prestie, Dusty, Cotch etc so we are relying on our GWS recruits to be the stars - which they are not.

Disagr

Disagree. Pickett doesn't shirk anything. Pushing the guy whilst on the ground was disappointing but I'm sure it would have been payback from something earlier.
He absolutely has form under high balls with contact coming from behind.

To me l reckon a lot of player's have lost there composure ,they have this mentality that they have to keep moving the ball on without thinking .

Ok Ok after a good nights sleep after Sydney toweled us up our 2nd eighteen but must admit those clangers cost us dearly. With 13 on the side lines & a few carrying niggles it is going to be a ugly season for us. The chop has to start now & Tarrant should be persuaded to pull the plug as his hip looks like it has the gong. Have to give credit to Jack & thought Mansell earned some praise.

Wonder also if Dimma might pull the plug, sometime soon.
He might think, only guessing of course, that his coaching days are over.
He does have some health problems, back I think I read somewhere.
Some on here are questioning the game plan and fair enough.
If that is the case, does that mean the players are no longer listening to the "plan."

I’ve been a supporter of Miller for many years as I thought he had all the tools but just needed some more intent and aggression.

I hoped the intent and aggression would come with confidence but I’ve given up.

If I’m singling out anyone last night it’s him. He was insipid. In a game where we just needed our remaining talls to contribute he was pathetic. Just needed him to halve contests… he couldn’t.

I was really looking forward to the opportunity that was presented to him last night but he left me completely exasperated.

I’m not sure I can watch another game when he plays… if he doesn’t care… why should I.

Ryan was equally as frustrating but he’s had less opportunity, however all he had to do in the forward line last night was get BOTH arms up and bring the ball to ground in FRONT of the contest to give our crumbers a chance.

True, but for the first half last night, I wondered why most of the players made the trip when they looked like they really didn’t want to be there. Then we put in our usual one good quarter and went back to not giving a *smile*.

Swans upstart dirtbag shoved him first
That was only after Bolton near took his head off with a complete idiot hack at the ball. No surprise the Swan remonstrated. Bolton was already going the petulant flog whinge for being free kicked against, then made it worse by trying to beat up on the bloke for areprimand push.

Not sure Taranto and Hopper are the type of players you build your next premiership side around jury still out.

We got no composure and to many panic merchants we're talking 3 time premiership players to lol. Skills and disposal are the worst in the competition by a mile.

I agree. We are making more mistakes than pretty much any other side in the comp. Damning.

First couple of things need doing.
Peddle Cotch to the obligatory 300 as quickly as possible, he's earned the right same as Shedda, but after that??????
Drop Flossy n Bolton to the magoos for a couple of weeks purely for discipline reasons to start with.
Understand that the Dusty one is currently operating at about 75% of Dusty superstar capacity and is therefore a mere mortal player no longer a scintillating game breaker with every possession.
Play as many of our youngsters as we can as often as possible, they'll *smile* up more often than they'll star, but we desperately need to get miles into these blokes. They're going to be the core of our future, or not but the only way we'll know for sure is to temper them in the fire of senior footy.

Balta has totally lost me. It wasn't just a brain fade that intercepted handball. The Sydney player knew exactly what Balta was about to do but Balta did not have the awareness or, to be honest, the ability to think fast enough, to react. Once he saw the Sydney player about to come past him he could have decided not to handball and instead move in the other direction and kick it out of the defensive 50. But he just cannot respond quickly enough. He just seems to be incapable of thinking fast enough for the modern game.

While he made other errors, I think in this instance he was thrown by the umpire who inexplicably blew the whistle just before he handballed. I reckon he was expecting the play to be halted.

Problem is Prestia Martin Cotchin havent held up their end of the bargain as theyve all been poor
Without Taranto & Hopper they both got over 30+ disposals last night our midfield would be non existent
No problem giving them 7 year deals if only they had some back up
Hopper DE 78% Taranto 68%
