GAME DAY - Round 14 - Tigers Vs Aints

Can't stand him. We stood by him through the toughest time of his life and at his first opportunity dogs us and asks to be traded whilst under contract. He's a flog.
I liked him when he was a tiger, and could understand him leaving. Another year on the periphery at Richmond, which looked like it could happen the way we were playing, and with his struggles returning from his brain surgery, and his career could have been over. The Saints offered 2 years and he took it. For a kid whose football is everything it was an understandable decision IMO.

But it is pretty noticeable on the field how he is treated. When Grimes and Butler were in the goal square together for a CB, Grimes gave him a gentle push, Butler similarly pushed back and they both started laughing. Before that, and before the wrestlign with King, Grimes and Higgins were in the goal square. Grimes was just giving niggle- nothing light hearted, and Higgins gave a little back. Then when Higgins got involved in the King/Balta wrestling, Grimes was very quick to go at Higgins.

Then after the game, Higgins walked towards the centre of the ground, away from Cotch, and away from any Tigers. He did belatedly make he way across, but there didnt appear to be any particular warm interactions.

Wasn’t there some sort of angst between Higgo and /or his girlfriend when they were up in the Qld hub? Didn’t it make it untenable for him to stay at Richmond?

I think Jack Graham gave Butler a friendly ruffle of the hair at one point and they shared a laugh, but every interaction with Higgins had spite in it. He seems to have set a few noses out of joint with his departure.

St Hilda's thought they had on toast after 4 zip start but the heart & soul of the Tigers was just idling. After watching Tigers for over 70 odd years besides our flag wins this one was rght up there with them.

That explains it - he just wasn’t good enough.
Nah. The Higlet is talented enough, reckon a bit of brain surgery might have interrupted his early playing career with us a smidgin. Prick did the dirty on us by demanding a trade to his pathetic St Kiddenme after we'd firstly given him his career opportunity and then supporting him through all his health issues. Hope he enjoys a long n fruitless career at St Kiddenme helping them remain unsuccessful for another generation.

Higgins had a pretty good 2018 and was one of our better players in the loss to Collingwood from memory. Would have played in the 2018 flag if we had won it.

Anyway top night at the G. Flew down from Qld to take some international friends. They had a ball and screamed out yellow and black at the end. What a game by the Kazoo. Stk a rabble at times and will miss the finals bank on it. The whips are starting to crack, and we are getting interested.

This talk that he was on the periphery is a false narrative though. He played 43 games in his first 3 seasons with us and missed a significant amount of time whilst at the club with his brain injuries. The rhetoric that he left for more opportunity is false, he was given plenty of opportunity with us.

I mean in his 1st season he played 20 times out of 24 games in a premiership winning team.

If he'd stayed he would have played a lot of football in 2021 and onwards. This talk is false. He boned us because he showed no loyalty to us for standing with him through his health issues, but because his boyhood club came calling.

In hindsight that was a massive win. To win by 20 pts after being 23 down earlier speaks volumes, a 43 pt turnaround and to kick 90 pts in those conditions was an extraordinary effort really.

It has taken all year but mini has made the team click - Cotch said that you can see the connection happening all over the ground - the players can see and smell it, exciting times.

Credit to Hardwick, he knew and did the gracious team first thing by stepping down to give the reins to mini - remarkable act and reminds me of the Grigg handover to Pickett - that was instrumental in the tigers winning 2 in a row, what’s best for the team is best for me.

The team is firing, the old boys are up and about, Taranto is the new energy, he reminds me of the ‘Duracell add - stronger longer’ with Bolts stepping up again plus enough youth in the team to lift everyone.

I think the lift has also come from our mid tier players - like bakes, Short, Balta is telling, allows our aging stars to play with freedom and plenty of tiger role players - Millar and Young doing a job. Add the pickup of the VFL players like Banks and Brown provides that necessary grounds up pressure - an understated factor critical to success.

The train has left the station - let’s do it one more time

Butts was at the castagna farewell and got a lot of goodwill from the boys, Brandon Ellis was there last night. These boys will always be Tigers but you sense Higgins isn't seen that way by the players.

I have no issue with Butler going (remember he lost his spot to Bolton in 2019) and also Brando, who got an offer he couldn't refuse. Higgins is the only one who left whilst contracted.

Higgins carry-on celebration after his soccer goal was testimony to the idiot he is ...

Butler by contrast barely celebrated his well taken goals .. respect ...
Sign of hatred been vented.

Same. I have nothing against Butts, still love Brando, but I can't stand that dog Higgins. If he hadn't had had brain surgery and he didn't play many games, I would get it, but he did have brain surgery, we stuck by him, we played him most times we could (so the rhetoric he went for more playing time is *smile*), he got a cal from his boyhood club and the romance of that outweighed the loyalty he should have showed to us.

I hear you Craigo.

Lynch & Gibsus ???????
Starting to have concerns for Lynch.

I’d be tempted to put the Gibbus on ice till next year if he’s still facing another 4-6 out no point really just keep him rehabbing and building up in the gym getting soft miles into his legs so he’s ready to go for pre season.
Has already re damaged it since surgery which is not great so discretion snd conservative approach might be best for him

I see no reason to put Gibcus on ice when he is fit. He is a young player who would benefit from just playing and gaining experience even if we can't make finals. Last I heard was 2-3 post bye.

Put Hopper in, Lynch at FF and Gibcus down back and we look a very good team

We need help forward to put sides under more pressure.

We are certainly efficient.

Last two weeks sides have had way more I50 than us.

Our back 7 is in form and holding firm.
