Game Day - Richmond v Geelong Preliminary Final

On that Dangerfield free kick prior to half time, Chamberlain blew his whistle and said "push", it appears he didn't say who the ball was going to. Houli assumes it's his and claps his hands indicating to Cotchin he wanted the ball. If the umpire doesn't nominate the player it's going to and there's confusion that's a very costly mistake and terrible umpiring. 50 metres a big price to pay.
Yup. Clear on the footage, he just says push, doesn't call the team or player.

Just watched the game again. I can’t see how the *smile* Miers has not been charged with staging. He has several questionable moments. The Houli glancing blow being the worst. Amazing how they pick and choose these staging fines.

Can't think of too many players who have been celebated as much as Dangerfield *and* played for contending clubs pretty much all their career, yet not even played in a Grand Final, let alone won one.

Colours aren’t yellow & black Bowden!

Dangerfield receiving some personal advice regarding his character from Dusty...

Brown stains for the gear steward to deal with and then starts smirking after Dusty turns away.

It would be good to know what was being said. Dusty doesn't normally go at the opposition like that. Further on the clip you see Dangerfield start mouthing off again. Big Ivan gives Dangerdive a tap and calmly tells him something. I suspect it was something along the lines of "You really don't want to keep winding Dusty up"

Wont be a good look if diver Dan wins the brownlow and gets cited for staging on the same day.

Ivan probably said, Dustys got 3 medals, you've only got 1

Nice comeback there ... and the two more Dusty has got than Diver are ones that every player hungers for.
Unless Diver changes clubs (again) I don't reckon he's got any chance of winning either of them at Geelong ... they're gone.

Given his disappearing act after half time, Dangerfield might've received a text from someone watching from New Zealand...

I think Ivan said something along the lines of “just shut up” or “give it a rest”.

Just re-watched that second quarter and it didn’t seem as bad as i remember it at the ground. Bolton and Dusty missed sodas. Jack and Dusty had gettable moments but took too long.

And then, of course, danger dived and Ray happened.

We possibly should’ve been level, maybe a goal down cos Blicavs had an easy miss.

The thing I found odd was the pissweak commentary around the danger dive. No one mentioned it!

I actually find Richo annoyingly non-committal sometimes.

In conclusion, we weren’t as horrendous in that quarter as I thought at the time.

According to Mark Latham on Twitter the only reason Bachar got off running 30 metres to elbow Miers is because it would be politically incorrect to charge him and that the AFL practices reverse racism

I kid you not.

What a sad nasty man he has become

You are right Baron. I felt at the time that we had definitely stopped the momentum and were still well in it
