GAME DAY R19 Tiges V Hawks

Forget what position the Hawks are , what a great win to be involved in , not many better then that one for the Tiger army to rise as one , hectic scenes

life still has the capacity to surprise me

im very reassured by 2 things

1. when you are 50, 50 year old women are hot, and

2. when tigers aren't winning premierships, H&A wins can can feel like little premierships

I reckon being 100 and winning the spoon won't be too bad at all.

Well I just looked again and seriously, if that's play on then that's the case 40 times a game.
Yep. How many times have we seen it happen. Player deviates and then walks back because he's undecided. So many other frees or marks where the flogs give the player free time to decide.

Was their an obvious reason Young got subbed today, ie. injury or something similar? Or was it a coaching move by Mini to inject some fresh running legs in to the game to haul us back from the brink?

I thought Young was doing a good job. If it was a move by Mini, it was a great bit of coaching. Coulthard provided some serious spark at the start of the last term.

Young trounced granger-barras (0touches) and the hawks subbed him for some other bloke so we subbed young. Great move.

Edit. I don’t think dimma would have subbed a defender- too conservative - mini is not afraid to make big moves to win games. It’s a real strength.

Edit edit - as pointed out by tiger Mike and the dog on the mini thread. Great minds etc…

How nice was it to see Axel Foley streaming through the guts and hoofing it straight at a leading forward?

Winning the spoon with your 100 y o woman could be life threatening.

Did you watch the vfl today Stig ?

Many of us calling for him to be played on ball at vfl level to free him up were happy. He looked really good.

How about supporting the kid instead of running a vendetta ?
Nah. Watched the first 3 qtrs before heading off to the G, Moju was *smile* terrible.

Final wash up from yesterday. A one point win against a young developing team is more relief than celebration. Our deficiencies are there for all to see and have to be addressed before 2024.

The problems are all forward of centre for mine:

- Miller can’t play again. Timid as a forward. Doesn’t attack the ball. Not up to it.

- Pickett forward experiment an abject failure. Either drop him or return him to the wing.

- Jack at the end of a great career. Only came back into the game when the speed went off it. However with Lynch out, we have no one else of that size.

- Cumberland has to be played - natural forward. Work on his attitude at AFL level not VFL level.

- the mix of the team going forward needs sorting - we do have good young players like Banks who needs 5-6 games at AFL level. But that means dropping stalwarts like McIntosh. Are we ready for that?

One final thing - for three quarters yesterday, we were thrashed in centre clearance and they were clean & unpressured as well - embarrassing. Worst performance all season. Midfield coach & players need to get to work this week.

As an aside it was just great to be amongst the Tiger faithful and up and about at the end.
No group of supporters sings the song like us.
That roar when Bakes kicked the goal reminded me why I love going to the footy.

have a look at Miler's great spoil (11 minutes Q4) when Ned Reeves lookes all set to hold a mark - 3 seconds later we goal and the comeback is on

Just watched that last quarter again - awesome comeback but what the heck were we doing in the first 3?

Needless to say atrocious umpiring in the last - they missed a few for us & fell for the Sicily flop.

Seriously I think Sicily deserves one of those diving memes for that effort against Jack - he also flopped when Cotchin gave him a check earlier in the quarter. Good player but seems that if he is out of position he flops to try to get a free.
