One of the great interstate wins that.
Remember the much hyped Brions have beaten us the past two meetings..
We've got a million injuries & get our home game relocated interstate at the last minute.
Then we cop 2 more injuries during the game, including Dusty.
Season on the line & we absolutely delivered.
Magnificent.

Easily our best win of the year, injuries keeping Vlas, Broad and Balta out of the backline, missing Prestia and Edwards in the middle and losing Mac and Dusty during the game - we kicked a top 4 out of the top 4, with kids playing everywhere.

Loved how our kids gave us energy and our older leader stood up - a great mix and it worked.

Players like Astbury and Grimes really led from defence and it’s the first time in a long while we were able to defend the whole ground and we could see our three pronged attack work - when was the last time we kicked over 100pts.

Our kids gave us run, Nank and Lambert the grunt and the silk of Bolton and Stack thrived.

There we’re times I wasn’t confident we would hang on and it wasn’t till the last 4 minutes that I knew our composure had returned. Brisbane is a fast, high pressure team when on, but our pressure stepped up and we sliced them open at times.

Nank and Jack - both BOG I reckon.

Jack - what a legend, a tiger legend.

*How about turning up 2 hrs late.
*How about been stuck in a bus for 2 hours.
*How about no prep going into the game.
*How about how many times Bolton & Martin were held at stoppages.
*How about the extra 2 players they had in the last qtr
*How about the old codger reeling out numbers after the game
*How about the ram job we always do to the toothless lions.

How about we just stay up there, dam Qldlanders closing the boarder otherwise we could have suggested the salties travel up and play us on the Coast next week.

The crowd was fine 4,119 with the majority being tigers. We are a Victorian based team after all. Lions home state and were well outnumbered. So where were they? Someone needs to ask Kane Cornes ;)

What did he say in presser?
They won more contested ball
There turnovers cost them goals
They had more inside 50's
They had more clearances
But he did forget the most important number 106 -86

Isn't it great that the AFL shifted our grand final rematch from Friday night to Sunday shitsville so the world can tune in to Port v Collywobble next Friday.

That was a nice win, especially given they have beaten us the last couple of times.

I was thinking early that we were conceding goals through a lack of structure in defence. Of course, when you are missing the likes of Balta, Broad, Houli and Vlastuin this is hardly a surprise. At least the defenders were going in a lot harder and putting pressure on. The structure improved later in the game but still not up to our usual standard. The defence held because of the effort they put in.

We were getting smashed in centre clearances and turned it around. We got an early lead, lost the lead, and came back to win. These are good signs.

It was noticeable that we had numbers at contests, something we have been lacking of late.

Plus, we ran out the game ok. Not as well as we can with all our best players in but enough to get the win against a team that are up near the top.

A few players who did good things were noticeable: Chol was in and out of the game a bit, all players are to some extent, but he kept going and kept contributing, some of those goals, especially the first, were great. Ross had some decent flashes. Stack looked good at times. Short still needs to work on kicking it somewhere useful but an improvement. Rioli looked a lot better, I still think he is better as a small forward, but not in the defending space role he had, rather as a crumbing, goal kicking, forward. Grimes was very solid.

The umpiring was the usual mess. The dangerous tackle decisions were just stunning. Of course, if they didn't constantly give frees for players who fly forward when tackled, you wouldn't have players tackling and dragging the tackled player sideways to prevent the flop. Yet another case of incompetence leading to a ruling which is absurd.

Nice to get a win. Geelong will be more than a handful, they are good, but we'll see. If we can bring the heat, play 4 quarters and not concede too many goals when they get a run on we are a chance.

Jack's 300 - what can you say? Magnificent, simply magnificent.

Hope Dusty is ok although wouldn't mind if he has a rest.

Our strength and rehab guy left to head up Sydney's this year
Yer and why on earth did we just let that happen? Is Benny letting everyone walk out? Are we broke, after 3/4 last flags? The biggest membership again, for 4 years? One of the very few clubs to make a profit in 2020? What - we are impoverished?
I'm unimpressed.

Why is Castagna still in the side?
i reckon hes essential in our aging slowing side- especially alongside lumbering jack n tom
-elite speed role creates options, ball retention, heat on oppo exits (often not his) & unafraid of contact ..unlike any other small in team....stats irrelevant
-a smaller version of kmac who also attracts ridiculous abuse from people who have forgotten the role hard pace played in our success.
-we have so many smalls in our best 22, pace is a non negotiable.

Rob Inness is a big loss, one of the best and look what he's doing at Sydney. We have lost too many talented individuals over the past 2 years.
Caracella, McCrea, Leppa, Inness
