Game Day - Geelong V Richmond

Out of character for Stewart he seemed to show some remorse. Looked bad at the time but I don't believe he meant to take him out, accidents do happen. Remember Houli?
Yep, agree and believe me, I despise Geelong with a passion, as I have to wake up (t)here every *smiling* day .......... but Stewart is not THAT type of player, then again, who is in today's watered down game of "Touch-Football" ?

I'd be more than a tad happy to have his hardness and attack on the ball style game running around in a Richmond guernsey every week and so would every person in here. He'll do his 4-6 penance and comeback and still be an All-Australian, because thats what makes him one of the best in the game.

There's nothing unusual about body checking a player in that situation so they can't run on to the next possession, it was the raising of the elbow that was the unusual bit and I think he has just done that without thought. Personally I think the idea he said I'm going to line this bloke up and go bang is more ludicrous, no player has done that for a very long time.
Are your eyes painted on? He lined him up him up and took him out. It won them the game.

The two incidents were nothing alike.

Stewart lined him up. It was deliberate. Houli was trying to shrug of a serial pest tagger and an errant fist hit him in the head when he wasn't even looking at him. Houli deserved his two weeks but then we got the AFL "manifestly inadequate" garbage and it was increased to 4. A complete miscarriage of justice; just unbelievable of what the AFL does to Richmond. In my decades of watching football I struggle to think of a fairer player than Houli but he was given no credence by the AFL or the media. Witch hunt to the extreme.

But you watch with Stewart. It'll be "oh he's a top bloke", "oh he's remorseful", it wasn't deliberate blah blah blah. The ironic thing he will get less than Houli did. Do you think the AFL will call it "manifestly inadequate".

But it's all good. His actions won Geelong the game so both they and the AFL are happy little campers. "*smile* Richmond" they will snigger behind their hands. Gil and Shocking and Salty and Pepper will all be circle jerking as we speak.
Oh it was deliberate and he wanted to lay the hurt as much as possible, of that I have no doubt, but I dont believe for a second he meant to knock the guy unconscience to that extent Riddles, a legit hip & shoulder can do more damge than a head bump in alot of cases, he just happened to hit the sweetspot of Meatballs head, when Im betting he was hoping to hit shoulder to shoulder and lay him out that way, with NO illegal bump to answer for.

As it turned out, he'll have a month or more to ponder that decision, doesnt help us in anyway right now, but who knows where Karma may show up down the line !

Doesn't matter Jack. You can't run past the ball and take a bloke out; headshot or regardless. The rule is that it is actually a 50m penalty if you take a player out and not let him run on to the next contest. We should have been having a shot at goal from 30-40m out. But of course not.................

Stewart's actions won them the game. Illegally. But no doubt he and Salty and SHocking and Gil don't care. Stewart's supposed contrition is an act. He got them the win over the team they fear the most.

I have no interest in watching the replay or even highlights of a loss

that reversal against lynch in the last? correct or not?

Geez I hope we play these *smile* in the finals. The noise and booing of Stewart will make the 2017 QF seem like a teddy bears' picnic.

Can’t find a dedicated dimma thread so I’ll post it here. Can one of the mods merge the many?

Thought he was all class in the presser but the anger was bubbling away underneath. ‘We learned a lot about ourselves and our opposition tonight and look forward to the next time we play them’

If you don't play the kids in these games when do you play them?
BigG might need a rest but Miller is as bad as Cathwaite.
Clarke you have him or Castagna or Farts.
I rather Clarke stays in and partners Rioli.

I'd have stack ahead of him. Even Castagna at this moment over young Clarke. 18-year-old kid, his time will come.
Miller has been in good form in the ressies over the past 6 weeks and deserves his chance. I have been critical of miller prior but last 6 weeks he has been very good.
I'll be watching the ressies tomorrow.

I don't care mate. Unload both barrels and pay the fine. They can't *smile* us any harder.
Unfortunately that isnt true mate, you seriously think umpires DON'T hear or read the :poop: said about them and wouldn't hold a grudge the next time they umpired us ?

Better to take a deep breath and swallow hard, beat them and the opposition next time when it hurts the most and have the last laugh ............ p.s. Ill be pi55ed though if any of those clowns tonight are adjudicating a Final.

He was measured. But like you said he wanted to tell the AFL world how much he would love to exact revenge on Geelong.

Are teams allowed to call for a stretcher?
Gill the Dill would be pissed as it’s not a good look if a stretcher comes onto the ground
Stretcher ? ... its 2022, and Im pretty sure there are Golf Carts available at every ground to get players off the ground QUICKLY to be properly attended too. If NOT, I'd be asking WHY NOT Dil, you imbecile.

So many mistakes. Those two misses from Shai and Lynch were absolute sitters. Then Lunch missed that mark 25m out in front.

There's three goals.

I bloody hate Geelong because they always seem to be around the mark and they always lift for us. We do so much to shoot ourselves in the foot.

It's hard to take positives from close losses.
What about "Lunch's" missed mark running backwards in the 1st Q, 5 metres out from goal ?

I would have kicked the Cat clear across the room if she hadn't already passed away on me last Saturday  ... (RIP Puss Puss)

They certainly aren't when they are wrong.

I take that to mean we just blew a game we should have won and we won't make the same mistake when it counts.

Until tonight - that is not when you need to ‘check’ a player. Prestia was leaning back and wide open having reached high for the ball. He was not going to impact the next play - but he was wide open to be collected if a player wanted to take the opportunity. Stewart made that choice . He exploited Prestia’s vulnerable position, he knows that, anyone that has played the game knows that.
So you were a trainer or a masseur yeah??

Yeah but it'd make me feel a little better!
:ROFLMAO: ...now how did I know that answer was forthcoming.................. I hear you mate, trust me, I hear ya.

Ive just mellowed over the years to the point where I refuse to let a game of (today's at least) Football dictate my mood for the next week, isnt worth a heart attack or ulcer, I'd rather be around to see what happens next week to be honest, doesnt mean for a second I'm not shattered by that loss and how it came about, but we'll bounce back, this team has shown me a bit this year that certainly wasn't there last season, so I still remain optimistic we can play Finals.

Surely when their is a player that severely injured and they had at least 4 trainers / docs around them, the potential for them to become involved in the play should certainly be used to stop the game. There is a duty of care to Dion, but also to the medical staff on the field. They surely cannot do their jobs adequately enough, whilst looking around to ensure the ball and the players aren't heading in their direction.

I would assume the umps have the discretion to stop the game whenever they think they need to, and it was clear immediately that Dion was in a very bad way.

So you don't think they should have stopped the game??
Agree with all of this Posh, Game SHOULD HAVE STOPPED, regardless of where the ball was. When its that obvious the player is badly injured, play must stop and the player welfare takes precedence, end of story.
