Footy Show

Re. the so called Ben Cousins "story". Muckraker Barrett had to rely on the old technique of repeating the story a few times over to get any mileage from it. Of course he won't clarify where the information came from. The studio audience laughed at it and the guest panel looked downright embarrassed when asked to comment. AFL journalists really have become a breed of lowlife snitches, ambulance chasers and rubbish bin crawlers.

Yeah, agree it is as low brow as can be. The next story to break will be that Cousins gave McGuane a "strong anti-tiredness liquid" the next day.

It's true, he bought a short black. ::)

I think that was the tipping point for gutter journo's. The response was that tepid by the crowd and the panel that the footy show has to rethink the entire premise of Barrett as a newsbreaker.

Agree Scooper.

That was the single most ridiculous story ever put out. & thats saying something in this era over over sensationlising everything.

Actually still giggling about how stupid it is. Amazed Barrett kept a straight face while reading it out.

But we all have to admit it is just plain stupid for Cousins to do it.. Even if its only minor issue.

Going against team rules is NOT minor.

I also found it so annoying how that nerdy looking uber-geek Damien Barrett described Cuz (at least 4-5 times) as "The recovering drug addict".

I nearly threw the remote at the TV.

Dweeby looking dorky mother *smile*.

Tamazapan although prescribed generally for sleeplessness it is not just a sleeping tablet.. its a benzodiazapine used to also treat anxiety and can be highly addictive.

This is a popular recreational drug.
How do you know the doctor hasn't prescribed Luke McGuane some Temazepam for getting to sleep after night games and he left them at home?
Temazepam being used for anti-anxiety isn't that common, that's what Xanax is for

Still some leaks in the RFC Footy Department.

you know this how?

don't forget that the two players involved knew, so you can include their mates, some of the other players, and then the cascade begins

if someone from the club wanted to leak this, IMO they would have done it last week when the media was desperate for the info.

Barret still rambling on about this on MMM radio this afternoon.

They were interviewing Adrian Anderson, mainly about Melbourne Storm, when Barret interjected and wanted his views on the latest "Cousins situation".

Anderson response was pretty much, move along, nothing to see. He said Richmond suspended him for a match, AFL happy with Richmond's handling of it and nothing to add.

Barrot tried a couple more times but got nowhere. Not sure if I could hear giggling in the background.

i didn't comment on whether McGuane was prescribed it. But judging by the reaction of the club i would doubt he was.

My thought is Cousins was silly to give it to him and McGuane should have made sure someone woke him up and not missed reecovery, maybe Cuz should have woken him up to cover his butt. You can sleep through a hurricane on them.

Oh and your right that Xanax is more commonly used for anxiety, but Tamazapam is also used as well as Epilem and many others.

My worry is that Cousins is on Tamazapam. Its very addictive.

I lived overseas in the years FootynShow debuted... can still remember so many friends telling me about this cutting edge new FootynShow.

Sad, but like HHIS it has done its time.

The Front Bar just doesn't go for me. Watched it a bit but just seems too bland with 3 drunken blokes sitting in same spot rambling on. No action like what the Footy Show had. Sooner or later Mick Molloy's gonna become an ear sore.

There's another step back from football for me.
