That demographic is the core of the AFL's business.
Good luck trying to keep the game going on the back of trying to constantly please fringe parties & minorities.
Does my head in..all these people who say they love the game then go about trying to continually change it. Blah.
The thing is, the AFL is an easy out for ‘they’re ruining the game’ but 99% of the changes over the last 30 years have come about due to organic evolution. What actually ruined the game was professionalism- flooding (grant Thomas), stoppage strategy (Swans and Roos), zones, rushing strategy. Some of the rule changes implemented have worked well, including no second man up, smaller ruck circle, insufficient attempt, changes to rushed behinds and easier kick outs. Put the rules back to how they were 30 years ago and we’ll be back to 5 and 6 goal games.
Second, for some reason people think the game is going soft. Play happened at about half the pace in the olden days, with way less players around the ball- and there been plenty of brain injury consequences from those times. If the AFL don’t go super hard on it now, they will literally be sued out of existence. I get that it’s a shame they have to go so far, but blame professionalism and anatomy for that.
I agree there’s things wrong with the game, but my point is simply that the old school crowd, who want their game from the 80’s back, are not a consideration for the AFL because it’s not possible and not reasonable. It’s also not commercial, because most people don’t want the game as it looked in 2006 back- it was boring.

Give me 2017 then, I'd settle for that.

Straw man hutstar. Nobody is saying revoke all rule changes of the last 60 years.

Guys, I cant bring myself to watch the show.
Did they even mention the incident - or did Hutchy pull rank and silence the discussion - given he needs to win the radio rights again soon enough?

Ha ha i just saw the tweets.
Not one mention of the incident. biggest story of the w/end and not mentioned.

Agree...Zorko has form on this Caro...wake up.
Yep, there's been at least 2 games that I remember where Touk Miller has refused to shake Zorko's hand after the game.
One one occasion, Zorko was following him around trying to shake his hand, just like Scott Morrison used try to shake peoples hands.

No doubt once they heard what he said they gave it right back with interest.

The ability of Brisbame to spin this story around is incredible.
I assume there will be an AFL investigation, and unless the Melb players involved have apologised there will be sanctions.

Another Caro "my sources" story. Which will reveal nothing. She is getting more and more irrelevant,. just a typical desperate attention grab.

Mate of mine who’s close friends with a current day Premiership player who is at his second club, reckons Melbourne are the most disliked team in the league. Reckons both his current and past clubs hate them. The mouthiest players in the league apparently with key offenders being May, Gawn, Pickett, Fritsch, Oliver, Langdon, Viney, Hibberd.

I could see that...hasn't worried most when they were no good, but no doubt has got worse with success.
