My case rested. The negligible conversation going on elsewhere is so irrelevant.

Cannot believe how people don't see how central this issue is. Adios

If you look at yourself through other people's eyes you will always be a failure and on the outer.

But

If you see yourself truly - warts and all - good points and not so good points - you will like yourself and the world you live in more..........

As for the fitness aspects of the Tigers - it is boys against men and in any physical contest men will win through strength and wearing down the youth.

How obnoxious.

It isn't a fitness thing.

It is a mental application and confidence thing.

There is no confidence as they are getting smashed each week, so that desire to keep doing all the hard stuff when they know it will be done in vain will quickly take the energy and power out of an athlete.

If they did some testing such as beep test, VO2 max etc.. I would have no doubt that our figures would be well and truly within the average range of the AFL.

To prove my point, just wait till we are in a game deep in the last quarter and with a real chance of winning, the team will be jumping out of the collective skins and fitness won't be an issue then.

Failure to run games out isn't apparent on the scoreboard.

Yep, the problems seem to begin after we run through the banner

Leysy agrees with this.

Fitness is a massive issue with our team.

Partly because of young players with little to no pre-seasons under them.
Partly because our senior players arent fit enough as well.

Watch our games, we generally start quarters OK, but fade as they go on.
We cant run to receive enough, chase etc. Simply cant run hard enough for long enough.

Replacing Hornsby with a leader in this field should be No1 on CC & Hardwicks agenda come end of season.

Yep , i think someone on here said they were contracted this year which is why they didn't get the flick..
tigerbob,dd or anyone heard anything about moves in that area at the end of the year?
Matt Hornsby seems to have been at the club for awhile & I think wa sunder contract this year.We should move him on at seasons end.

The problem is not in their aerobic fitness but in their ability to absorb the punishment and continue. Playing AFL footy for years will get you to a point where you can take the hits and doesn't suck as much energy out of you. When you are younger the fitness is there but not the ability to absorb the punishment and retain aerobic fitness.
The kids are fit they are just not seasoned enough to absorb the punishment.

Agree. Especially after playing the Cats. They are just massive men who hit hard. It was interesting to Matt Dea after he got dumped by Pods. Dea is a pretty solid unit for a 18yr old but he was gone after that.

What's the excuse for the senior players?

Thanks Phar Ace but u can see why I don't post. If Phantom posted this it would have 80 replies. "great post Phantom" I have used him as example but it's certainly not his fault. Just the sycophants.

Not sure Phantom is the best example really Bluey. He cops more than his fair share of criticism too. He rubs plenty up wrong and plenty don't forget his past actions. One poster has been banned in many guises for breaking the rules on PRE and drumming up Phantom-hatred was one of his favourite pass times. I suspect if there are 780 replies to Phantom's post it would be more on merit due to the actual opinion or information rather than a groupie kind of following. Agree there is a bit of a disappointing clique mentality on here in recent times though.

I agree about the fitness issue. Not that long ago people were predicting a bright future for us because we were drafting for pace and run and carry. Some of our players seem like they can hardly lift their legs to run.

Is this clique mentatility causing any harm?

What do people expect from a forum when you are on here for nearly a decade, not bump into each other and have a drink, not meet up at a Coburg game or even watch an AFL game?

Everyone has the opportunity to meet each other if they want, hey can you imagine if we alll meet up together we would be one happy family and the word clique wouldn't be used.

Huh? :headscratch

Nobody mentioned meeting up, having a drink or anything to do with the outside world and there were certainly no names mentioned? Sounds like you have a guilty conscience putting your hand up like that geoffry. :hihi

No I haven't mentioned anything about socialising with PRE's, you mentioned about the clique mentality, and I asked you if they have been causing any harm and you haven't answered my question.

Cliques on here are formed through playing footy together against other forums, meeting at Club80, at Coburg games etc. If these cliques are not causing any harm to anyone and just stating their opinions what is the problem? Is it because they know each other?

You seem to be making massive assumptions based on my simple comment geoffry. "Disappointing clique mentality on here" doesn't indicate in any way the things you are questioning based on real life socialising. It seems you are accusing certain posters of being cliquey though.

You haven't answered my question Rosy, who are the posters on here with the dissapointing clique mentality?

Care to mention names?

i thought this thread was going to be about our players fitness or lack of, not of the fitness of posters to post, or choose who they socialise with.

I'm not the least bit interested in discussing it with you geoffry and although this thread has taken a bit of a meander, as many do, I'd prefer to get back on topic.
