Expect Richmond v Carlton to be postponed or the fans locked out

But isn't that the point? While we're dealing with those way bigger things, I reckon any sort of distraction is welcome.

Depends really. You expect the players to isolate themselves from their familes to ensure they're safe? Is it fair to ask the players to take a risk when the rest of society are bunkering down?

Not at the point it comes to bunkering down, no. But while kids are still at school, people are going to work and with sensible precautions in place, I reckon we're best served by at least trying to get the season up and running.

It will be interesting to hear the outcome of the players' meeting today.

Media putting the torch on the AFL. I wonder if those same media are aware that one of the AFL's concerns is no doubt the position they face with respect to the media rights agreements. I wonder if those media types are willing to put the torch on their own media outlets to come out and say they are willing to waive their rights under the media agreements.

I also wonder whether those same media types understand the financial pressures on the media outlets and are happy not to be paid in the event that they were not required to cover the AFL for a period of time?

The media is probably putting the torch on the AFL because if the AFL call the games off then the media companies don't need to cough up a full years payment for the rights.

Conversely the AFL are hoping one of the government calls it so they're protected financially.

That's all said with plenty of assumptions but there's a lot of money at stake here.

If the Tigers beat the Blues and no one is around to see it, does it still make me happy and Blues fans miserable?

Yes...thank got for electronic communication to allow us to rub it in.

On another note, I'm looking forward to the 2020 season being awarded under the Duckworth Lewis system

play out the season on the playstation or xbox. Get the best e gamers from each club to play out a virtual season.

What happens to the media who work for Fox, Seven, Herald Sun etc if the season is cancelled, they all might have to go and find real jobs. Imagine how much weight Kingy and Robbo would lose labouring for a team of brickies?

Some of em would be well cashed up especially the ex players.

But the visual of them toughing it hard as brickies labourers is quite amusing.

News just in!

Chuck Norris has come in contact with the Virus!

The virus is in quarantine for 14 days!

The AFL is doing what it always does. Throw the option that makes them the most money into the public arena and gauge the level of genuine outrage. Adjust as necessary, claiming they are a benchmark in safety, integrity, yada yada. Rinse repeat.

Just out of curiosity.
Without actually being tested every time someone has a runny nose, sore throat or temperature how the *smile* does anyone know if someone simply has the flu or the dreaded Coroner virus?
Until such time as there is a miracle cure ( vaccine ) for the Coroner no - one is going to know who has what so to me that means the whole world should self isolate now n no - one should put their nose out past the fly screen until the world is saved from itself.
Either that or just get the *smile* on with life as best ya can n realise that them that are gunna fall off the perch from the Coroner or the Flu or Malaria or Ebola or something else were gunna fall sooner or later anyway.

You don't, hence the concept of testing.

Would have thought if season ends up a shambles AFL would be obligated to award premiership to last years premiers....?

IMHO...I think that all the 22 named squad players from both teams should play each other on an electronic version of AFL evolution and that should be televised. E.g : Jack vs Docherty, Dusty vs Cripps, Dave vs Casbolt, Cotch vs Curnow. All electronic matches to go for 5 mins. 110 mins of electronic football.
A) Gains a viewing audience
B) Maintains social distancing
C) Gives me something to look at during Toilet Paper Armageddon
