Dustin Martin

Dusty 2017 was almost the perfect season. doubt overall there has been a better season by a player. Leigh Matthews stated this.

However... Abletts season of 1993 when he kicked 124 goals in 17 matches at an average of 7.3 is very hard to beat. in any era. He only had 246 disposals for the entire year!! hard to believe really. every 2nd kick was a goal!!

I have no idea where Dustin ranks really. I have no idea where most players rank. All I'm really sure of is Ablett Lethal and Carey are the three greatest I've seen with any clarity. I was a pup when Hart was out there. I love Dustin. I also loved Plugger Diesel and Bernie Quinlan and would've gladly paid just to watch them. Every game Dustin plays from here is a gift so enjoy it.

Gee, Dermott Brereton seems to a forgotten man around here
As CHFs, I always rated Dermie ahead of Carey. Royce probably better than both, but slightly before my time to see him at his best.

Maybe my opinion is skewed because I really liked watching Derm, but thought Carey was a flog (although great player) and many memories of him playing all those finals in the 80s

Anyway, Dusty = GOAT

Nah not forgotten larrabee. He’s one bloke that I would have loved to have been a Tiger. Not happy about his treatment of Tony Free though.
Love the swagger. Came to a school where I was teaching and delivered a brilliant talk about applying yourself to a task. Great message. Year Nines didn’t know him but he has a magnetic personality.

I loved Derm as a player but Carey was better.

The Free incident happened right in front of me. Freezer ran at Derm out of his blindside with murder on his mind and Derm saw him just in time to raise his elbow and cave in Freezer's face.

Dermie's worst act against us was using the 'within 5 metres' rule to run through an unsuspecting and unprotected Des Ryan at a stoppage. One of the worst dog acts you've ever seen, worse even than Dog Stewart's on Dion.

Peak Carey the only thing I've seen close to Dusty and then Buddy trailing those two. Only caught the tail end of GA SNR but he probably should be there. Then there's everyone before that.

Then there is the onballers, you can throw a blanket over 20 of them. But those four are unique and almost impossible to replicate.
Richo takes care of Buddy in my book!

Plugger didn’t have a finals record nor the leadership qualities to put him at the top. Nor Buddy. But both extraordinary footballers.
Ablett Snr , Mathew’s, Bartlett and Dusty in a league of their own.
Hart should be there but career was cut short by injuries. But he could do it all.
Hudson!

Didn't he take out Czesaki??

My Grandfather, who saw a lot of of footy in his lifetime up until 1980 when he passed away, maintained to his death that the best footy player he ever saw was Laurie Nash.

Just sayin'...............

I would go to any game to watch Huddo. I saw him make Kelvin Moore look totally inadequate in a practice match one day.
Magnificent full forward.
I saw Bones keep Huddo goaless in a proper match - now that was something
But you’re right - Hudson was magnificent
