Dustin Martin

Our boys have to do so much more to get a look in.
Aston Martin is the present day equivalent of Dale Weightman.

(Yeah he won Chaz but had to have a Lethal Leigh type Year to win it)

The Fleabag was often first picked for Victoria (and Captain) but didn't win too many individual awards.
When compared to others the argument was:
Well Richmond are never in the Finals so we picked Finals players.

2023.
Marcus "MyShitDon'tStink" BontEmPelli.
Wins anything he goes near.
Last time I looked at the ladder they missed the Finals:

Oh that don't matter. He's the best player.
We changed the criteria.
We like the Bullies, GeeSook, anyone. Just not the Tigers.

Feel Sorry for Asto.
He gets dudded because of Bias.
The Richmond Bias is still alive and well.

CornHole.
Gaddy.
Mince.
Blobbo.
The Bristle.

Who cares - 3 Norm Smith's is worth more than 100 AA jackets.

In any case, I'm touristing at the moment and I reckon Dusty got a sainthood, just look at this:

If that ain't a don't argue I don't know what it is, his fame goes well into the past and will live in into the future long after the AA jackets are compost.

Some in the media just will not give up on trying to pry Dusty away from the Tigers.
Latest is John Ralph.

1. The uncertain futures

We made the journey to the MCG in round 23 so the kids could take in the Jack Riewoldt- Trent Cotchin farewell tour.

Really, I was there to say a pre-emptive goodbye to Dustin Martin.

At that stage, the jungle drums were deafening that Martin was open to a move to Gold Coast …. and the Suns were keen on him.

As it turns out, the Suns have gone a little cold.

Ralph is a total idiot. Why give him oxygen here?

I reckon I could find a ‘Dustin Martin set to leave Tigers’ story every year since 2010. It’s been happening since game 8.

What would be an appropriate return for a player like Dusty if he was to request a trade this off season?

Listening to people in the media, they bandied around a 2nd - 3rd rounder. Surely that's not right?

He's our best player, and despite being 32, given he is in contract, I'd expect us to demand a bit more than that.

I have never wanted to engage in this kind of chat- but the noise is getting louder. You've got to be pretty naïve to think that every single journalist is making it up out of no where.. there has to be some truth to it

Dusty will no doubt add to his 204 Brownlow votes later this month. To put this in some perspective, Dale Weightman who was Richmond's best player in the 80's only managed 52 votes over the course of his career. Dusty is Richmond's greatest ever player, the stats speak for themselves, the finals performances will never be repeated by any player full stop. He's a legend who stands comfortably alongside Leigh Matthews as the best midfielder/forward the game has ever seen.

I think and firmly believe it, that it’s part of the media obsession with us.

It’s sells whichever way you look at it, via click bait and talkback callers.

We have never been truly recognised or lauded still to how great this team was from 17-20.

How close we can to possibly a four peat.

The thought of the great man walking to another club shouldn’t enter our thoughts.

It’s the media pushing this agenda.

It’s the media driving this talk.

It’s the media wanting this to happen.

The media want us back down the bottom for another 37 years.

Waiting’s view.

Looking back objectively on his season, if he kicked more accurately for goal, then he would have been a lock for AA.

Thats what i keep telling myself anyway.
Kingy it wouldn’t matter.

Corne and his cohorts still wouldn’t have recognised it!

Only Horne recognised what truly was an unbelievable year by Dusty, even comparing it to 17.

That may well be true JK

He had a lot of nearly games, especially early on. Games where he kicked 1 and could have kicked 4, quite a few of them.

Same with Bolton actually. Shai could easily have kicked 40-45 goals this year.

Part of the reason we missed. Pretty sure we were 18th for goal kicking accuracy.

There’s only a few clubs that would part with a r1 for dusty , clubs that can rest easy with the comfort of a pipeline of academy pics incoming from year to year , tbh nothing would surprise me with the man of mystery

I reckon that is probably true. If he kicked 50 or even 40 plus he would have been impossible to ignore.
