Dustin Martin

Silly by Dusty. He's better than that. I know they hang off him and scrag him all the time but all the cameras are on him and he will get a week (probably at a critical time) if he does it again.

Only if it’s graded differently - they got rid of the three fines = suspension rule.

The Match Review Officer has completed their review of Sunday's Round 18 match between Richmond and the West Coast Eagles, with Dustin Martin and Marlion Pickett each offered a financial sanction.

Charges laid:

Dustin Martin
, Richmond, has been charged with striking West Coast's Alex Witherden during the second quarter of the Round 18 match between Richmond and West Coast played at Optus Stadium on Sunday, July 16, 2023. The incident was graded as intentional contact, low impact and body contact.
The incident was classified as a $5000 sanction as a second offence. In summary, Martin can accept a $3000 sanction with an early plea.

Marlion Pickett, Richmond, has been charged with rough conduct on West Coast's Jeremy McGovern during the fourth quarter of the Round 18 match between Richmond and West Coast played at Optus Stadium on Sunday, July 16, 2023. The incident was graded as careless contact, low impact and body contact.
The incident was classified as a $3000 sanction as a first offence. In summary, Pickett can accept a $2000 sanction with an early plea.

The cameras are on him, that is true, but it seems the cameras must go missing when "they are hanging off him", in other words holding him when he is not in possession of the ball. Could the moron commentators call that out, and possibly the even more moronic umpires, actually enforce the rules as written?

I am clearly asking too much, enforce the rules as written, perish the thought.

What was Pickett's fine for? Too long since they last fined him I suppose.

Dusty & Tim T's opponents held them so tight I thought they going to ask them to get married.

TT was continually infringed against, and the flogs did nothing. It’s been happening to Dusty for years, so I’m not surprised that he occasionally reacts, especially as the flogs don’t seem to care.

Both Martin and Bolton averaging a goal a game and 20 possessions. Great effort, but when you look at the career stats of KB, it makes you really appreciate just how good a player he was. Over a sample of 403 games, to average over 20 possessions and almost 2 goals a game.

As mentioned on Fox when they showed the player list with the most career possesions and Pendlebury closed in on the record, KB was the only player from a time when a stat meant that you'd gone in and earned the stat.

A truly remarcable player.

As Richmond supporters, we are blessed to have been able to witness the careers of KB and Dustin Martin, two of the best mids to have played the game, Richo and Hart, two of the best forwards to have played thegame, and Rance, one of if not the best key defender to play the game.

I know Dusty won't contest it, as I would love to know what Witherden did or said to Dusty.
Its not the first time a Tiger has belted him from memory.

Must be a bit of a lippy campaigner Witherden

In the 1980 final series he kicked 6.3 against Carlton, 8 straight against the Cats and 7.4 in the Grand Final. Absolutely nuts.

Agree.

Dusty, Shai, Taranto, Prestia, Hopper and Cotch all rotating through there is pretty devastating when it clicks.
Its looking ominous.
To be frank we've played bottom sides lately. Swans miss Chad Warner. Freo in a hole.
So we've been tested once recently and fluffed it against the brions.
I'm interested to see how we go against Melb in 2 weeks.
