Dustin Martin

Seems to be playing less mid-forwatd but more forward or mid

When playing mid, and the ball is in our forward line, he seems to be positioned a kick out

Could be wrong but happened a few times

Some shocking ball use in first half along with some sublime ones but was just bollocking his way out of packs in the second half.

The tiger crowd (including myself) loved that late goal in what were freezing cold conditions.

Looks to have lost a bit of his explosive fast twitch power advantage , which is something I normally notice more in some ageing champion rugby players ,

But still very awesome , looks really invested mentally and wants to win

There was a sublime pass made in the last quarter from the wing in congested play to half forward.

Was it Dusty? Whoever it was, the crowd was "ooohhhhing"!

Like most of his teammates he butchered it in the first half. Pretty sure he changed his boots at half time. Second half was vintage Dusty; scintillating.

Must be in a good head space.
Doing interviews too.
Although all his interview answers are pre-recorded/identical.
Super proud of the boys tonight.

Rinse, Repeat, Champion!!!!

One more Norm, Please, Norm!

Yep it was Dusty. Beautiful pass to Cotch.
Beautiful pass undersells it a little.
An audacious, outrageously executed, laser kick that only 1% of the best players could attempt at full pace around their bodies.
When it first came off his boot I thought he had actually shanked it as he was looking at his team mate straight ahead of him.
I should have known better.

Haven't seen him this focused & engaged for a long time.
It's like the penny has dropped that this is Cotch & Jack's last season & he wants to do all he can to enjoy that & taste success.
Also with Dimma departing, the club's leadership seem to have taken it upon themselves to get it done. None more so than Dusty.
Whatever the actual reasons for it, we have to appreciate the champ in this mood.

Agree. I was amazed how he spoke well to Jude Bolton after the game. Most words since the 2020 flag.

Couldn’t agree more. He is invested. And I don’t just think it’s for the now. Bloke loves the club. I wonder if old mate McClure will still bang on about trading him?

"DUSTY DOMINANCE"

"It wouldn’t have been good reading for Sydney coach John Longmire, but a certain stat says a lot about Dustin Martin and where he’s at.

Clearances in the second half of Thursday night’s game were alarming reading. Richmond won the count 29-12 with centre clearances even a more eye-opening 10-1.

Leading the charge was Martin, who had six clearances, with Jacob Hopper next on five while Dion Prestia, Tim Taranto and Shai Bolton all had four. The best Swan was James Rowbottom with three.

The stat provided further evidence of how committed and involved Martin seems to be as the Tigers continue to battle to keep their finals hopes flickering. There were many who thought after Damien Hardwick’s exit and the sense a dynasty was ending that the superstar’s buy-in might also drift away.

But as he showed in a matchwinning second half against Sydney, Dusty is more than up for the fight."

On the face of it Meehan absolutely bungled the bye, presenting Richmond flat and lead-legged first up after the byes. Dion Prestia and Dustin Martin missed that game. Rested with calf/hamstring related flu.

They were back in town the following week. Martin was terrifying.

Hopefully one week of flu is enough to see him through the year. But if need be both Martin and Prestia should get the flu this week.

Puts us in fantastic position with Dusty now. If he stays - great, we are all happy and he’s a one club legend. If he goes with Dimma as a package, still a legend and we get the max out of him leaving
