Seems Ralph the Murkin has been caught out. Ironic that talk of him talking to other clubs comes out just before he is due to meet with RFC tomorrow? The supposed other clubs coming out and saying they haven't even thought about Dusty suggests that Mr Murkin has leaked the story to the media.

I see Dusty as someone who is very close to his team mates & loves playing footy. Outside of that perhaps he doesn't have such a strong connection.
I don't see him as a gun for hire but all footballers have got to make a living and somebody like Dustin (who didn't finish school) is going to have to cash in on his career more than most. Can't blame him one bit for exploring his options.
I'm of the view that if he leaves, he leaves and hopefully we'll be duly compensated but I really hope he doesn't because he's a great player to watch in the Y&B.
Not just Martin but I'm hardening my feelings towards footballers these days as individuals. Free agency and money hungry managers are eroding my love. The AFLPA has a lot to answer for too.
I just want what's best for the club these days. Less concerned about the personnel.

Personally Dusty is my favourite Tiger from recent years.

Dusty values stability, doesn't really like meeting new people, incredibly shy truth be told. Not sure he would like starting afresh at another club, let alone another city. And Melbourne suits his lifestyle. For better or worse his hipster counter culture life is built for Melbourne or Sydney.
This will happen. And I actually think he semi gets Richmond and has a genuine affinity for the place.

If he were a true mercenary he would have left a couple of years ago. Instead whilst his manager was shopping him around Dusty was going to interviews at other clubs stating how much he loves the Tigers. So much so that GWS told him pretty early in the peace that he should stay at Richmond.
Doesn't sound like a mercenary to me.
He is pretty much at his peak in terms of $$$, who knows maybe next year with some more talent in the midfield (and old man Deledio continuing to take his spot up forward) he might not have anywhere near as much of the ball or contested footy.
Does he stay on decent dollars for long term with us or wait until end of next year... or even jump ship if there are big dollars on offer?
