Dustin Martin

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that Dusty has given away many more frees than he has been given. So the umpires who decide the free kicks are the same ones that decide the Brownlow.

Will not win the Brownlow.

Polled well last year.

You never see him back chatting to them so I think that outweighs the fact he gives away more than he receives

Agree.
I'm cynical enough to believe that for the AFL he just ain't poster boy material and they will find a way ...

When you think back to his off season lynching and then the deportation of his father, Dusty's year has been nothing short of miraculous.

Wonder whether he sees a Brownlow speech as a means of making a political statement about his old man is extra motivation for him?

Free kick differential is not a significant factor in Brownlow votes. As an example, last year Fyfe had 23 FF and 46 FA.

A Dusty Brownlow speech. That'd be one for the ages.....

Dusty is on track to be top five in the comp. He's nearly there. His worst kicking is still too frequent.

If he changed his worst kicks to his best he'd be on track to be nearly top player in the comp. The bloke is Nathan Fyfe or Ablett or Clangerfield class until he turns it over by foot. Too casually.

His improvement this year has been awesome. Just a few more steps.

Too harsh Jack.

Fyfe can shank them at the best of times.

So can Clangerfield, SA. It's the cute kicks that let Martin down. He can fix that.

Then we can talk about this Fyfe rumour. ;D

Reckon Dustys got Dangerfield and Fyfe covered in the foot skill department Jack, as for GAJ best there was ,best there is,....btw Fyfe has to be my favourite player going around

What? That he is a good kick? ;D

That he's a footballer, SA. (He might improve when his broken leg mends but.) ;D

Pfft. If Dusty would kick to Richmond players three times a week he'd lap even the legendary GAJ, CC. (Never heard of the other two.) 8-

Has there been a stronger midfielder than Dusty in the last 15-20 years? Not that I've seen.

I actually think he has a fair bit to go in terms of refinement of game sense and damage of his disposal but in terms of strength and athletism he's out of this world, once a decade, etc good.

Ricuitto and Voss in the ball park.

Dusty deserves a pretty sweet, long contract extension pretty soon. 5 @ $4m? contingent on doing some assertive chopstick work each preseason.

Cant imagine his brownlow speech will be overly verbose.

If Dipper can get through a brownlow speech, I'm sure Dusty can. Or he could just send Aaron Edwards up to accept it on his behalf.

I miss the days of Dusty having a ping on the run outside 50. Unless there's a team mate clearly in space, he should have the licence to go for gold.

Make it happen Dimma.

Yep, he's sometimes too much of a team-player these days. If not a clearly better option, drill them from outside 50 every time.
