Dustin Martin

This may be the best season of footy Dusty ever plays and as much as I love watching him play and as much as I want him to stay I don't think we should sell the farm to keep him nor should we allow him and his manager jerk us around.

I hope we are chasing Kelly hard regardless of Dusty's decision.

- If Dusty was to go then I think the ultimate up yours would be to immediately replace him with Kelly, give Kelly the number 4 and politely tell Dusty not to let the door hit him in the arse on his way out.
- If Dusty stays then our midfield would be one of, if not the best in the AFL.

Either way we win.

Fwiw... Caro in the age article today on Buckley had this to say..." but the truth is Martin seems likely to stay at Richmond"

FWIW Tony Sheahan also twitting the same. Inside word from his sister who now works for the Tigers maybe?

The last big name (at the time) to hold out until the end of the year and remain at his club was twav cloke, managed by none other than ralph malph.

Well said Broders. Excellent points. Must try and get Kelly either to play along side or replace Dusty.

Our club hasn't got the cojones to do that , ffs they apologized to the drug cheats when we were linked to Hurley

I always thought Twav was managed by his Dad.

It's actually correct. No longer his manager but google martin carr and cloke and you will see a photo of them together. Carr was manager when cloke held off signing a few years back.

A little snippet from a Caro article about Brad Scott says that Martin is 'likely to stay at Richmond'

So he may or he may not but more likely will. We are none the wiser. These journalists are amazing.

It's amazing Tigerlove.

They have no idea. Changes daily.

No wonder we are confused and each one of us has a varied opinion .

I thought that it had been confirmed that the decision about Dusty's future would be delivered at the end of the season, and that the club had accepted that. If so, I'm a little confused as to why some on this thread are getting their undies in a twist because its not happening sooner.

Not sure about that. Balmey sort of indicated he was hoping something would happen sooner just the other day.

yeh I took that from the Front bar too, talking about playing in front on 100 people (reference to Abletts 300th game up on the Gold Coast). I would say the balance now is between the extra $$$$ and departing an environment and mates you can depend on for a further 4-5 years.

Plan A - dont make the offer as lucrative as club "x" and hope he chooses to stay, allowing us to bring more talent in.
Plan B - he chooses the other offer and we can then match or let him walk with a monster trade to be done.

If he stays, great.
If he leaves, he leaves at his highest value as a player.
yes, he's RFA, but the AFL have ways to make sure things are all done so no one gets royally shafted behind the scenes. Clangerfield is a goo example. Adelaide matched the offer which is way Geelong traded. But the official story I believe was that Clangerfield wanted a trade to make sure Adelaide were fairly compensated. Geelong, being the good guys, agreed.

I still don't know how we sold our Ferrari for top dollar on lay-by with 700,000km on the clock.

You're right, we'll be paid fairly in cash for the Aston Martin... but it's still much more fun to have the Aston Martin than the cash.

Earlier today on SEN Brett Anderson said he thought Dusty would stay & felt that it happen sooner rather than later.
