Cmon lambster, rewriting history can only fool some, some of the time...

Its been stated by many previously that this new fast game plan was trialled in the VFL last year and posters had actually heard discussions on it...

Plus the recruitment of fast types in last 3 drafts, i guess that was coincidence also, one of the few lucky moments of Dimma coaching life...

Once again, i don't attribute all success or all failure to one person, i think its very much a team effort and currently they are performing above most expectations!!

Rewriting history? So in the 2014 & 2015 drafts we drafted for pace for the 2017 game plan? But not in 2016 (Prestia, Caddy, Nankervis, Garthwaite)?

And Dimma thought the best way to trial the shiny new 2017 game plan was to implement it under another coach (McRae) with players who largely won't be playing AFL (the 2016 VFL side)? Whilst seemingly persevering with the stinky old game plan?

Makes sense to me.....

Well the Geelong game last year reminded me of this year.
Back to the future.

Yeah based on a bogus interpretation of a Sam Darley interview by Ninja which was debunked by me. Sam said no such thing

Dusty called, he said to get this historical origins of the game plan analysis out of his thread or he'll give you all a big don't argue.

Come on mutton...bogus interpretations of events are what drives 99% of your posting!

Look we sporadically played some nice football in 2015 and 2016 but Dimma wasn't comfortable with it.

We loaded up on kids in rd 7 of 2015 when we were 2 -4. We kicked 8 goals in a quarter to turn a 20 point deficit at quarter time into a 2 goal lead.

What happened? Kids got squeezed out drones squeezed back in and the handbrake lowered. Dimma said "That's not how we want to play" Seriously!!

We again went with kids in a shootout with Adelaide rd 3 last year. We lost by 5 or 6 goals but it was exciting. Most on here couldn't see the silver lining. We took the game on and our kids fluffed their lines when they had a chance to hurt the Crows on the scoreboard. What happened? Dimma made his half step back comment and then walked it back next few weeks. Kids out. drones in.

Ditto Bulldogs late in the year.

Dimma must have been told his plan don't work internally (by a non yes man if we had one last year - Chocco maybe) and it must have been obvious to him.

However he had neither the inclination and more importantly the competence in his 7 years to introduce a consistent effective offensive game style.

We have subcontracted that to assistant/s who do have the nouse and ability to implement.

But to give any credit to Hardwick who demonstrated in 7 years how little he understood how to implement a effective forward structure which moved the ball quickly ,fluently and FORWARD is bordering on moronic. It is however pretty sad.

Fair enough too.

I am not going to argue with Dusty. I'm off! ;D

Did the Doggies have a top 4 list last year Tobes?

Whats that got to do with you using alternate facts to push your agenda mutton?

They finished the season as premiers having won 4 cut throat finals. Battling injuries to key players all the way through the season. Yep top 4 list.

We never finished top 4 nor won a final, in fact players shat themselves in the September heat. Had a great run with injuries throughout. So no, we didn't have a top 4 list.

In fact that last final against North I remember you criticising Dimma's motivation of the players as a reason for the loss, despite not having any idea what he said to the players!

That was classic mutton!

Where else would you think you would trial a substantial change in game plan?
In the AFL when the season 2016 was shot anyway. Why trial it with players that won't be implementing it?

Fair enough.

I see Dusty got named only on the hff for the mid year AA side. Bit stiff?

So 15 wins and 7th home and away is top 4 list then.

What would you say led to Doggies success from an elimination final to Richmond non success seeing they both won the same amount of games during the season (2016 Doggies 2015 Richmond) . Did they have a better list or better coach?

I suppose he is changing at FF, tim. But he's a starting mid in the AA side and I'd argue the best player in the comp. I think the selectors read numbers and make decisions on those. Without looking I'd guess that Martin is lowish on clearances compared to lepers like Sloane. They've got Sloane in, haven't they? (I'm frightened to look at the fruits of their idiot blindness. ;D)

But srsly. He's nearer AA captain than HFF IMO. (Rance is AA captain.)

A bit of both id say mutton.

But, I reckon Luke Beveridge wouldn't have got our list to win 4 cut throat finals the way he got the dogs to....because I reckon the Dogs have more good players than we do.

Anyways, back to Dusty. Hes a gun.

BTW I was at a function on Saturday evening and spoke to a very inebriated Tigers board member. I asked him about Dusty and he was extremely confident he would stay. Don't know what that's worth but there you go.
