Dustin Martin

Just brilliant to have a player all other supporters and coaches / players suggest "how do we stop him", just love it.

How often have we grappled with this over the last 35 years - Ablett - Carey - Dunstall - and so on and so on

True pops, it's a novel feeling. We've had some great midfields, particularly under Bartlett, but Martin eclipses even Knights.

Best mid since Rioli? KB himself?

From an unnamed site:

30 disposals, four goals (modern players)
Times achieved Player Team
7Gary Ablett Geelong / Gold Coast
3Steve Johnson Geelong / GWS
2Patrick Dangerfield Adelaide / Geelong
Dustin Martin Richmond
David Zaharakis Essendon
1David Armitage St Kilda
Michael Barlow Fremantle / Gold Coast
Dayne Beams Collingwood / Brisbane Lions
Harley Bennell Gold Coast / Fremantle
Shaun Burgoyne Port Adelaide / Hawthorn
Trent Cotchin Richmond
Robbie Gray Port Adelaide
Toby Greene GWS
Luke Hodge Hawthorn
Leigh Montagna St Kilda
Luke Parker Sydney
Scott Pendlebury Collingwood
Nick Riewoldt St Kilda
Jarryd Roughead Hawthorn
Steele Sidebottom Collingwood
Callan Ward Western Bulldogs / GWS
KB did it at least 10 times, I guess Mathews would be more.

GA senior did the 25 disposals 5 goals 10 times

You just know with all this Dusty talk and the importance of this game and only round 2, Collingwood is going to target Disty.

They see this as a way to get under his skin. Get Dusty to be Undisciplined and give away free kicks this may unsettle him.

Never seen Dusty unsettled. Even when it gets "willing" Dusty's visage remains stoic and undisturbed. The little push and shove in the Carltank game saw him fronting up to...Casbolt...I think. Giving away 4-5 inches and never took a backward step, but also never changed his expression. He has the longest 1000 yard stare in the game. A thousand parsec stare, if you will...

Yep. The double fisted jumper punch on Casbolt was a ripper. He followed it up with a bit of lip and I may be mistaken, but it looked to me like Casbolt lost all interest in throwing his weight around.

Was bloody funny, macho Casboult roughed Dusty up, then Dusty roughed Casboult up, Casboult rapidly lost interest. On top of everything else we love about Dusty, he simply has the best mad stare in the business n backs it up by matching the footy talent with no fuss hard arse in the scuffles.

Have always wondered whether he's susceptible to being roughed up. For a player with a "tough guy" image, he's never belted anyone and he's not a dirty player. Lee Spurr tried it on a couple of years ago and that's one of the few times Dusty's lost his cool. Not sure what would happen if someone started pinching him or giving him sly ones to the back of the head etc.

love the fact that when the opposition get into cotch the first one in there to put them on there arse is dusty. loves the club is going no where

Intimidation is definitely part of Dusty's weaponary.

I reckon that if someone finally gets to him it might end up a bit like that famous Bruce Doull incident. Could really lose it one day.

Be glad if we win and he has a stinker. Otherwise his price will be out of control.

I dunno about that.

I think this new childs play thing suits him to the boot studs.

That perception is due to Dusty's highly intimidating aura. It's why the original chopstick story was so believable to outsiders.

But if pissed off, Dusty wouldn't turn feral. He's the type to walk away with a determined face, get the ball, then give a big don't argue with no expression. Seen him do it before.

Family has been his only weakness, albeit that was only the week his father was deported. Nothing can chink his armour in a typical match.
