Demetriou has got to go NOW!!!

Allan Aylett was the idiot that oversaw the Sydney Swans nightmare and we booed and jeered him out of office in 1983. Anyone remember when the Bummers won the night grand final and Aylett had to present Daniher the cup in doors to escape the resounding fury directed at him alone? The guy was detested as much as what Vlad is today.

Dont see why a grassroots campaign to boo and jeer Demetriou out wont work. The pr!ck is deaf to reason but not to relentless disapproval.

I think it's almost unanimous that people are unhappy with the direction Dimetriou is taking football...

Football in the last 2 years has been as successful as it ever has been, but I honestly don't think that can be contributed to any of the rule changes or onfield things that have changed... They are messing with it in a way that hasn't made it better in any way.... The theory of if it aint broke should be applied to a game that's been successful for over a century.... The stupid play on rule where if you're running around with the ball and it's NOT your free kick (ignore the whistle) then you get 50 penalty against you... But if you stop for the whistle and it IS your ball, and they umpire suddenly calls play on and you get tackled, you get pinned for holding the ball.. Players shouldn't just have to use blind intuition to GUESS who's free kick it is so they can either play on like a mofo, or immediately run into defense..

I mean, use the NAB cup to play around with things, see how stupid they are, then drop them for the season.... The rushed behind rule has been a total joke with when it's paid and when it isn't... The holding the ball in to another player is a joke. How many times do you see a ball get pulled in to a player by an opponent and it is NEVER paid against that opponent.. The rule of holding it in is stupid anyway.... 99 times out of 100 a player would rather hold the ball anyway and give away a free kick where the team has time to set up, than just fist it out to opposition in open play... So it hasn't sped anything up or kept stuff flowing.. It's just ended up punishing the guys who have the balls still to go in and under and win the ball... Only to have it hugged to them and get penalized... If the a rule change doesn't add anything good to the football, it shouldn't be in the next year... Keep the game pure to it's roots...
Then you have the tribunal which is an utter joke too with it's decisions...

There just needs to be a big hard look at where they are taking the game of footy... Seems as though they are really wanting to idealy turn a full AFL (test series) in to a 20/20 big bash match...
I for one love my footy, but so much more it's becoming about money winning matches and eventually it will be like EPL soccor where 4 or 5 teams are just always powerhouses, and the rest of the teams are only barracked for my masochists and people with self destructive/loathing tendancies... F'k having a competition where at least 10 teams are just there to be a filler so that we can say the game is spread out country wide and package it as a billion dollar sport that only 6 or 7 teams ever have a chance of winning... That's exaggerated, but the fixture has already fallen to being constructed around profit earning potential, and will only get worse and worse until international accountanting firms and number crunchers who have never even seen an AFL game end up deciding every single game for the year....

well said dizaster

Well summed up Diz

Demetriou doesn't make these decisions on his own (well not all of them), so maybe the people around him (Anderson. McLachlan, etc...) also need to be looked at. The entire system needs overhauling. I'd start with disbanding the let's change the rules committee and putting a moratorium on significant alterations to the game for 5 years. Leave the finals at 8 for the forseeable future (you know that'll be a final 10 in a year or two) and for God's sake get that incompetent Gisechen out of the job and give it to someone who has a clue!

Yep. They may not need your money if your the only one who leaves but they lose ten's or hundred's of thousands in the same manner and see how they go.

For every two people who keeps their money in their pocket they are getting 3 more who turn up. They are happy enough to churn you out. Particularly won't care if you are not in the right demographic group for sponsors (retirees in particular have no appeal to marketers). I kid buying i-thingies is worth two or three old blokes who have bought the same beer for 20 years.

And you were going to quit when Swans were sent to Sydney. When Sunday footy came in. When zones were abolished, when caps were introduced. When the took the games from the suburban grounds like Whitten Oval and Princess Park. When the shut Waverley. When they sent games to Foxtel. When the brought in the Eagles, Bears, Crows, Port, Freo, Gold Coast and Giants. You were going to quit when they went to a final 8. When they pulled the pin on the Roys and gave them to Brisbane.

There are more final straws in the mind of supporters than in the 1st little pigs' house. Guess what? You'll be back next year too.

And that's exactly why people who've followed the game for a long time hate the *smile*s.

Just a gentle reminder people. When AD "retires" we get his sidekick "Angry Anderson".God help us then :help

The true litmus test is how the players view Vlad, I think we all know the answer to that.

Not sure changing to a wider but more shallow support base is wise in the long term. People willing to be won over will always be at risk of being won over by alternatives, it is important to keep the solid bedrock of support on side imo.

Football is successful because of the fans and the clubs getting fans onboard and the pride and love of our clubs.

Not because of Dimwittio.

Dimwittio thinks in dollar signs.

Did you hear over a lunch meeting.Dimwittio tried to lure Richo to GWS as football director.

The dodgy bastard.

Richo refused the offer.

Dimwittio will try to wave a chequebook over one of our players.

Shooftier than a sh!thouse rat.

None of those actually changed the way the game was played.

Gillon McLachlan is the one at the AFL more likely to take over.

If there was to be a protest to send a point to Demetriou and co. the only way to do it and make them take notice is to convince enough people to not go to games. It would be nearly impossible to manage but imagine if all fans in one week just didn't go to the football and made it known they would then start to take notice anything less will not work because they will not care because there won't be enough noise made.
