Make no mistake, this man is taking the game on a path for which it may never recover. not only has he introduced 2 new clubs that will take hundreds of millions of $$$ out of the heartland grassroots and the existing 16 clubs (not to mention make it impossible for Richmond to win a flag anytime soon), now he says the introduction of the 9 point rule will become part of the game one day (page 94 of todays hun). WTF? We've had enough rule changes to last a lifetime and now he wants to tamper with the fundamental scoring process which has remained the same since the 19th century?

Vlad is truly an egotistical madman with who is taking our national down the toilet.

I agree. Surely it's time for an online petition. (Not taking the *smile*).

Seriously though...what consideration does this guy take into for what the fans want. I don't think id go as often if they added a 9pt goal in. Would still buy a membership and go occassionally but think it would be less interesting.

I'm being serious. Not a single person you talk to actually likes the direction of footy under Demetriou. If that's the case then surely a united front against him needs to be presented. In this day and age the easiest way to do that is online.

Something's gotta give eventually. There surely has to be some kind of groundswell.

I hate to say it, but Vlad is lucky he's pulling this sh!t while Collingwood & Hawthorn are successful and Carlton and Essendon are apparently on the rise again. Imagine all their supporters-not to mention their Presidents- if those clubs were being adversly effected and looked like missing chances at a flag because of all this expansion crap.

As for modern football and all the constant rule changes - don't get me started. Slowly nuetering the game and killing off everything that made it great.

You have a point Disco. If it was announced on BF and all the team blogs I reckon there'd be a massive turn-out.

If GWS and GC have a stranglehold over the competition for 5-10 years its bye-bye AFL.

No doubt, and if the AFL commission was presented with a petition with 500k+ signatures that be compelled to listen you'd reckon.

Someone should start a proper website dedicated to it.(not an arsebook page, which will mainly attract the half-hearted, spammers & twats) Post links on all the footy boards and team boards.

A massive rally outside AFL House is what's really needed.

In the 100s ::) Long way from being a keyboard warrior to actually getting off the couch.

For all the football is dieing doomsayers who think the sky is falling - crowds are up, membership is up, TV audiences are up, sponsorship is up.

Most of these threads belong in the grumpy old men file where people can complain about all the other things that used to be better back in their day and is rubbish now.

So you'd support 9 point goals?

Ask North, Port and Melbourne fans.

We might as well make hitting the post a 3 point goal.

You honestly think an online petition of people that don't like Demetriou's administration would only attract a few 100 signatures?

i'd sign a petition but only after I've wiped from memory the thought of numerous 9 pointers from Lids, Newy and Dusty.

9 point goals are for the selfish who won't bother passing directly to a leading forward.

Give me fame !!

Head in the sand stuff. Crowds and TV audiences are up because there are more games and the right clubs are currently playing well. Membership is up for the same reason and because they now count your rabbit's 1 match membership in the figures. Sponsorship will always be there, don't know about up, in terms of TV rights maybe.

There is no doubt people are unhappy with the direction of the game. Not just supporters. The only thing that is a certainty in today's game is that Demtriou will get a substantial payrise each year.
