David Astbury, Thank You

Sure but it would be good if he can show he can play at least one end first.

Yep, not sure what his contract status is, but if he pulls out another injury filled year. It could be is last.
There wasn't much to get excited about in the games he did play in..
Hopefully he has a really good preseason, because he showed a lot in his first season..

Craig Cameron said he didn't think Astbury was our third tall fwd. Well Craig, it's hard to be enthused by his defensive efforts when body to body. Still think he showed more in his first year up forward than anywhere else. FWIW.

He wears number 12. He'll have another 3 or 4 years to prove his worth.

Totally agree. A tad slow for a defender but has the smarts up forward to be a dangerous 2nd/3rd tall option. Hoping for a big year from DA in 2013...

An attacking KPB for mine. Was very highly rated by most here after his first year. Coming off a serious knee injury I pay no regard to his form last year.

If he plays 12+ this year and gets some continuity that would be the fine with me.

Not fair to judge him on last year, hopefully he can have an injury free run at it.

It must be Xmas, jukes likes Astbury!! :grinsanta

You'd hope the club gave him that number for a reason....but we are talking a club that gave 17 to Paul Hudson.

And 29 to Alex Gilmore with the huge fan fair
Pettifier had 8 and then quickly went to 15

The numbers that are stand out's for me are 8, 12,17, 29 & 33

Very refreshing and honest interview with Dave Astbury on our website. Interesting to note he is training as both a forward and a back. If he stays on the park he will at worst add much needed depth to our team as he is a very smart and composed footballer.

Very impressive young bloke. Fingers crossed on him and for us. If he can put pressure on for a spot then that is some serious depth we have never known.

It would be handy if they could work out where he's best suited. Personally I think he's more likely as a forward.

I agree. Also interesting what he said about the pace of the game and where he is at. Fingers crossed for him.
