Have a gut feel someone will go past Dave next year. And it may not be Garthwaite. Watch out for Ben Miller. Same height as Dave but way more athletic.

*smile*. He played because we have no-one else who could play on Cox. He had to play. Then he had to play well or Cox badly. We saw how those dice rolled.
We play Collingwood next weekend and we would walk into the game hoping the Astbury/Cox match-up works for us because CCJ or Chol who we need against someone who is frigging 7 foot tall aren't ready.
No different to Nankervis/Grundy. No option, the match-up either goes our way or it doesn't.

No he didn't have to play and yes we did have other options.
Astbury wasn't healthy and therefore should've been ineligible for selection. It's been the Golden Rule of finals since forever. I was just as arrogant as the coaching staff for thinking it wouldn't matter before the game, but in hindsight this was such an amateur mistake.

Yeah, but that never happens. Every player thinks he can push past whatever niggle he has. AFL players are all ultra competitive.
The *only* time I think that a player declared himself unfit was Prestigiacomo.

The medical team can make the decision, not the player.
Same with Dusty, Dimma said if it was a H&A game then he doesn't play. History clearly shows you need fresh players in finals. I just wish we all realised this pretty obvious fact yesterday, but we all were blinded by our status.
