Cricket

Any chance that Cummins might not bowl full and/or on batsman's legs Poor line? Not liking this.
Pitch is playing very easy now. Might need Lyon to really step up.

Any idea why this World Test Championship is being played at The Oval as the venue?

I would have thought if you’re going to create a prestigious occasion out of it, bringing India and Australia over to London as a neutral venue. Wouldn’t you have played it at the home of cricket, Lords? Otherwise what is the point? Could have played it at any old ground.
The Oval is iconic. Prestige dripping from every blade of grass. The Oval was where Cricket died and they cremated the bails, well it died there for the poms because we beat them in the late 1800s but I don't know if they burnt the bails there.

The Oval is the second-oldest Test venue in the world.
Yes, I understand all that. But this is the ICC test championship. If you’re going to take it to London, surely you take it to the home of the game, like they do world cups hosted in England.

That all said. Looks like it might be simply an award to the highest bidder kind of scenario. The last one of these was played at Hamshire’s Rose Bowl on the outskirts of Southampton.

I'm not too fussed about where it's being played at this point (as long as it's a fair and neutral venue). Just want to win it. Try watching the contest PT. :)

Starc always leaks too many runs. Still don't rate Cummins' field placements. Ponting is all over it.

Cummins!

India 3 - 94
I have to turn in. But just have to get Kohli - the last bat who can really lead and inspire them. Have to set good fields and not bowl to his strengths - which we appear to be doing far too much.
I'd like to see some more 'chin music' tomorrow too. They dished it out to us e.g. Head at his head!

Sweet Tiger dreams leon, I'm going to hit the hay soon too, though I've been saying one more over for the last 30 minutes.

Change of bowling Starc's has been brought on, anything could happen.

Yep. I haven't been able to stop watching either. Was getting quite worried when Sharma and Gill, then Pujara were going. Anyway, just have to apply enough pressure through tight bowling to draw mistakes. India want to save face for their heavily biased crowd, so can be teased into poor shots.

Thought the disputing with the umpire by Sharma and Gill was disgraceful, after 3rd ump gave the latter out since clearly adjudicated that Green had got his hand under the ball from the outset and held it there. Bringing the game into disrepute in my book. Not at all acceptable in cricket - besides stupid - as the umpire in the middle did not make the video arbitration decision.

God help the great game if BCCI take any more control of the game. Their fans - you almost want to slap them for their blatant bias, except there's about 1.4B of them. :D

But we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Is because the Oval is "clean" ground sponsorship wise.

ICC can put whatever sponsorship they want in and around the ground whereas Lords have pre existing deals precluding that from occurring.
