Was a really good finish, but just like has been said with the mens, the ICC just have to bring cricket into the 2st century. There simply MUST be an extra day added to the calendar for a test when a set number of overs are lost to the weather.
Whilst it was a terrific finish, that was only because the teams made it that way. I highly doubt if thats the mens, that a declaration would be made at that time. For England to go for it as well, it was a great effort even as wickets started to fall.
Both teams deserve huge credit for actually making the finish interesting. I think in most other scenarios that would just be a boring end to a drawn test due to the weather.

I don't disagree, I just reckon Langer would be a nightmare behind the scenes. The team that won the Ashes clearly has a great camaraderie, a spirit I think is in spite of JL's controlling, grumpy presence.
Of course in most workplaces it isn't enough to sack someone because they ain't liked, but in this high-performance environment I think it'd be madness to take JL to the subcontinent. Cummins clearly doesn't like him and that means the entire bowling cartel.
If you don't get on with your captain and best bowler, it's time to go. Cricket is its own beast. Coaches are eminently expendable.
Bit of a messy situation. Players provided feedback which lead to his dismissal but the report/results were not really made public and reasons were unclear. It has been said that Lisa Devanna lead the way but she has proven to be a bit of whinger as her career subsided due to age.
@antman , as our resident Mathilda's expert, may know more.
Some good comments re Langer's position as coach and whether he is liked or not by (certain) players. Who knows. One thing I am certain of is these guys love winning more than anything.
BTW, couldn't CA just leave Langer as coach for the tour of the subcontinent, and if it goes pear-shaped, they will have performance based reasons to give him the punt.

After sandpaper gate, knowing Langer's personality, I reckon he would've really told the players some home truths when he was appointed coach. The players weren't in a position to do anything, so would've just had to cop it. And rightly so, a shameful period in Australian cricketing history.
I'm thinking that the players got back a bit of leverage when Langer went feral at Headingley, ranting and raving and kicking over rubbish bins etc. It was still too soon after sandpaper gate, so I reckon that perhaps they've been binding their time.
Unless he went too far, the players should be able put in behind them. A fair few egos involved.

Yep. But they usually wait until the coach is unsuccessful before they exterminate them.
