A bit early to tell yet, especially given the injuries that both of them have had. I reckon Cotch will end up being the more valuable player, especially as a leader.

There used to be a lot of talk about whether Hodge or Judd were the best of the 'super draft', these days it is generally recognised that both of them are guns who are 2 of the very best players in the AFL today. I suspect it may be a similar story with the Cotch and Kreuze.

no doubt that kruezer is a gun. & will be one of the AFL's best players for the next 10 years. but, cotchin is a one in a generation player & could be the next gary ablett.

composed on all levels & is a leader

i know who i would take

they both got a premiership medal, as did Luke Ball. Judd's won a brownlow. Hodge is a one club player, at this point.

If the Tankers hadn't tanked would we have taken Krueser at Number 1 ? No idea but the ultimate result is we have a very high quality player in Cotch who will probably be our next Captain. His best footy is definitely in front of him.

Maybe when the Tankers implode in the next few years we can get both as they are very close friends. ;D

Not much separates the quality between Kreuzer and Cotchin. Both are class acts.

They are well ahead of Morton who is another step up from Masten.

if we hadnt tanked last game V the saints, carlton would of got both Kruezer and Cotchin.

Given where we were 2007 either player was the right choice.
I'm going Cotchin just. I'm thinking that class running players have been slightly more influential on recent premierships than the talls.

Wayne Carey and Leo Barry had pretty significant impacts on their respective Permierships.

It's always hard to compare the effect of an individual player within a team, except for some outstanding examples such as, say, Judd with Westcoast & Carlton, amongst others.

There are also mitigating circumstances such as injuries & lack of pre-seasons that affect an individual player's output.

Of the four that have been put up for scrutiny, one can only look to individual KPIs.
The point that each of Kreuzer, Cotchin, Masten & Morton play much through the various midfield roles makes comparing easier. Also, all 4 will improve in the future.

Of course, each will come to their own conclusion.

Take your pick out of Chimp & Kreuzer.

Daylight, then more daylight & then more til you get to Morton & Masten.

I would take Cotchin, Kreuzer, Morton and then Masten in that order.

Cotchin and Kreuzer have the ability to become elite footballers. Morton is an outside mid, while Masten lacks the polish to be a true A grader. Neither are match winners IMO.

I would take Cotchin over Kruezer as I reckon his ceiling is higher. The Chimp will lead our revival.

BTW I loved the reports of his and Martins scraps during the pre season. It shows that Cotchin won't be imtimidated and wants to be the top dog. A very good sign IMO.

Cotchin looks a great fit for us, but I have no doubt we would have done well with either Kreuzer or Morton.

Different types of players and you would take the one that filled your most pressing need.

Morton is a very good player, but to me he is a cream on the cake type player. Can impact games, but needs a supporting staff. Not a match winner in a poor team. Would not have been a good fit for us where he was available. By that I mean he would have been great for us to get, but not at pick 2 with either Cotchin or Kreuzer available.

It would have been very interesting if Kruezer and Cotchin had both been available to us. But that wasn't the case, so it is all hypothetical.

The Blues definately made the right choice for themselves at the time. They needed a talented tall, and they got one. I still reckon Cotchin was the best player available, but with Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and co. already at the Blues, they were not going to gain enough out of taking Cotchin first.

Masten, forget it. I know a lot of unhappy Eagles fans. He kicks the footy like it is a bag of chaff.

cotch has undoubted potential, but really needs to work on disposal efficiency!
