The media are providing a lot of misleading data. they’re using COVID Live as their data point. The problem is that COVID Live are using 7 day averages to make future projections, so they are not factoring in higher uptake of vaccines.
COVID Base are factoring in the higher uptake of vaccines and are probably a more accurate reference. According to them, NSW will reach 80% of over 16s on October 21 and VIC on November 3 (13 days later). However, this data has changed a bit in recent days. late last week they were projecting VIC will reach 80% on October 25 and October 10 for NSW. While it does seem to change a bit, the trend appears to be that VIC are making ground on NSW.
