Yeah the COVID couple out of Melbourne to Caloundra is a good comparison. What these removalists have done is worse and has had significantly greater consequences already. I don't believe that couple infected anyone else, which by no means excuses their actions. But these guys have flouted every regulation which has lead to at least 7 infections so far with no doubt more to come and the likelihood of locking down a city of 5 million people once again. Their actions are completely unconscionable and all three of them plus the employer should be absolutely hammered.
The person from Craigieburn should also cop a fine akin to the couple who travelled to QLD. He/she went to Coles and deliberately breached quarantine regulations. One poor bloke has already contracted COVID because of that breach. People should not be exposed due to deliberate breaches by arseholes.
Like I said, I agree the removals (with the info we have), have behaved dreadfully and illegally.
and im not playing a perverse game of State of Origin here,
But I rate the Melbourne holiday makers during lockdown worse.
In that, they snuck out of lockdown, unknowingly Covid infected, to go on holiday, and crossed 2 borders illegally. whereas the Removalists got the required permit to do permitable activities, unknowingly Covid affected, crossed 1 border legally, broke the rules, and seem unrepentant (we need to be careful of trial by media, obviously; its come out that the Limo driver who originated this latest Sydney lockdown, contrary to all media reports, WAS wearing a mask and was diligently Covid safe, other than being vaccinated. And I think the fact he wasn't vaccinated was probably out of his control.).
FWIW, If I was a judge, I'd throw the book at the removalists and id throw 2 books at the holiday makers.
can you imagine if they called for victim impact statements when putting these people (note to self; always examine your POV forensically when you say or write the phrase 'these people') before the court? It would break the internet.
