97 cases in NSW

crap. hopefully it is the person who lived at the house receiving the furniture from the removalists. If its someone else, we could be in trouble
So this begs another question. The removalists came from Sydney to deliver furniture to the family who moved to Melbourne. It was either the Hume or Whittlesea; can't recall which one. They then went to Maribrynong apartments and spent a whole day there collecting furniture for the family that was moving to McLaren Vale SA.

Seriously; WTF?? They appear to be two separate and unrelated jobs. How did the Sydney removalists get a permit to do a job from Victoria to SA?? We no longer have removalists in Melbourne? These clowns should have come to Melbourne, dropped off and gone straight back to Sydney. This seems to be a ridiculous set of circumstances and unacceptable risk.

This permit system is a total cluster *smile*.

To be clear, it wasn't Whittlesea. the Whittlesea event is completely unrelated to the removalists. the removalists actually dropped of furniture at an address in Craigieburn, before going on to Maribyrnong and spent 5 hours there

7 more cases in vic. we are screwed.

1 from whittlesea. 4 people from the apartments. 1 of which has passed on to both of his elderly parents. 7 in total.

exposure sites at highpoint and the MCG (Carlton v Geelong). more information to come.

the removalists were actually 2 trucks.

Yeah I said I wasn't sure which one. Regardless it's a moot point, the fact is the removalists should have dropped off at Craigieburn and gone straight back to Sydney. There is no way that people from a Sydney red zone should have been given a permit to then go and pick up in another part of Melbourne for a trip to Adelaide. That could have been done by a local Melbourne company or Melbourne drivers.

It's just *smile* stupid and makes a mockery of the permit system.; not too mention once again unnecessarily exposing the state to a COVID outbreak. If we get out of this without a lockdown it'll be due to dumb luck nothing else.

This is disgraceful mismanagement from both NSW and VIC authorities. How the *smile* did these idiots get a permit to do the job from VIC to SA?

What a *smile* joke.

Won't be long before Vic need our own circuit breaker :(, I think Perth entered a lockdown after only 3 cases of Delta variant?

Reckon Victoria should pull the trigger on a state wide lockdown for four days as of midnight.
You're probably right. And whilst we're in lockdown the authorities should review this clusterfuck of a permit system that is allowing so many people to return from red zones everyday. As well as reviewing how these lying *smile* removalists were allowed to stay in Melbourne and do another job to SA. If this permit system wasn't so idiotic we wouldn't be in this position.

They can start with actually enforcing the conditions of the permit system where their are punitive measures for people that deliberately breach them like the Craigieburn person that went to Coles. Instead of giving them a *smile* cuddle.

The incompetence at both Federal and state levels around the country is just staggering. Added to the fact is that Australia is paying a massive price for being vaccine laggards. Massive.

Here comes yet another lockdown.

Agree we should have closed the border sooner, but these removalists seem like a bunch of rogues - i'd be blaming them rather than the system. Moving house is a legitimate reason to be receiving a permit and we shouldn't be preventing people from doing that, especially if its been planned weeks in advance and might have involved the sale of their original dwelling.

These removalists legitimately received a permit to complete ONE job in Vic (and to follow certain restrictions while here) but instead they've tacked on a couple of jobs in the same trip and largely ignored the restrictions they were supposed to follow. Not sure how you're supposed to enforce people doing the right thing without having a cop car follow them everywhere, which is not feasible.

Unfortunately humans can be real selfish pricks and will take shortcuts for personal gain despite the potential risks. Very frustrating situation.

Is this definitely the case? They didn't have a permit to do the second job from Maribrynong to McLaren Vale? I hope that is the case but regardless there is no doubt they are total rogues. I don't have an issue with them getting a permit to do the job from Sydney to Craigieburn but they should have gone straight home. The removalist company should be fined a huge amount and name and shamed.

That said Weimar's stance on the Craigieburn person who broke quarantine is very disappointing. What is the *smile* point of quarantine if there are no consequences to breaking the rules. Weimar seems a bit of goose to me. Also, why are they allowing so many red zone permits to be processed given the situation in Sydney. I can't believe that many people have genuine reasons to travel back in these circumstances. They really need to tighten this up.

I only have fury.
Agree. I am *smile* spewing about the selfishness of these *smile* removalists and the incompetence and mismanagement of the NSW and Federal Governments. I am only a little less pissed off at the Vic Govt for the permit system and allowing so many red zone permits and their indifference to people who breach quarantine.

I know the feeling, just booked tickets to go to Perth at the end of the month for my father's 90th. Hoping it will still be possible. I can't spend 14 days in quarantine when I get there and coming home has to be possible too.

The whole thing with quarantine is a balancing act. I reckon throw the book at those removalists if they were not meant to pick up another load and go to SA, mind you, they may not have needed a Vic permit to do that, just a permit to enter SA, and I doubt they told the SA authorities that they had started the trip in Sydney. But, if you throw the book at them, you risk others who are breaking the rules being even less forthcoming about their movements. Not easy.

In a statement, NSW Health said Sydneysiders should stay at home “unless it is absolutely necessary to leave”.

“You should only be shopping for essential items and only leaving the house for as short a period of time as possible,” it said.

“We encourage people to shop online or use click and collect options. If you do leave home for an essential reason, remember to check in anywhere you visit.”

So Gladys, if your message is to only shop for essential items, WHY AREN'T THE REST OF THE *smile* SHOPS SHUT YOU IDIOT. Victorians stayed at home in our lockdown, some doing it for the right reasons, others doing it because there was literally no place for them to go.

Release the name of them. There are so many rogue removalists out there that impact the market negatively.

The more people that actually used reputable removalists (that are legitimate members of AFRA) rather than randoms that just have a truck and some muscle, then maybe we wouldn't be in this situation. People always looking for the lowest cost unfortunately.

There is no lockdown in NSW. They get to pick and choose when they leave the house and where they go.

You watch thousands and thousands of people get the delta strain.
