Maybe not. Won't happen anyway - where do all the staff stay? Also in the caravan park? Howard Springs takes 1000 pax, being expanded to 2000. Caravan parks can't cope with that volume.

Not a very good analogy there Ezy. You'd drive very cautiously knowing traffic lights may get turned off.
The borders have been closed regularly at State level so no real surprise when the international borders get closed.
There was always a chance this could happen. Many people made sacrifices by coming back to Australia when the call came last year to return.
Others didn't. That's fine but it's a personal choice & those personal choices have potential ramifications.

I just think that sometimes in reality (it may often be their own?) people have a personal choice between one option.
I would disregard almost everything, to plant my folks in the ground.
I can also understand an argument that cricket is an essential service for Indians (as footy is to us)

Banning Australian citizens from entering Australia is the biggest bluntest tool they can use. It's like trying to shell a peanut with a container full of C4.
There are other ways to achieve the intended result, which I assume is to ensure that returning Australians don't create a new wave of infections. Sadly though despite being in pandemic mode for over 12 months, the government doesn't seem to trust it's own quarantine facilities and process.
Everything about the Ban and Back-down reeks of an ill thought through knee jerk populist reaction. Brazil, over the last seven days, has had ~620 new cases per 1 million people. India has ~690 per 1 million over the same period. Why weren't Australians returning from Brazil, or other high infection rate countries, banned as well? Or did the Government just react to media reports and want to appear strong?

Yep yet another quarantine breach in Sydney. Lost count of how many that is now in the gold standard state.

It is understood the case, a man in his 50s, has not travelled overseas in recent times and he does not work in a hotel quarantine, border or health role.

This. FFS just introduce a quarantine levy of 0.5% if they have to. I'll happily pay to help protect me and my families health whilst at the same time letting the country stay open for everything.
Given we are still a long way from vaccine's being widely effective and having the virus eradicated (can it be eradicated?) they really need to be looking at long term strategies to live and thrive with a global pandemic. Surely a major part is a national quarantine approach?
I'd like them (the feds) to communicate why nothing has happened in this regard? Is it the states that have wanted control? Could they not agree on a consensus strategy? They get advice from the AHPPC, did they not get advice on quarantine (the most important part of dealing with the pandemic) on quarantine from them? Is it simply too expensive to setup (scarcely believable)? They should be explaining why there isn't a national approach.
But...but...Peter Dutton said hotel quarantine is 99.9% fine?

Is it a quarantine breach? News reports saying the bloke hasn't been overseas and doesn't work in health or at any of the quarantine hotels.
