Coronavirus

Person has tested positive and went to golden plains festival on the weekend (and now the T20 world cup as well). Mass gatherings need to be banned now. Anyone who goes to the Grand Prix is an idiot and the football next week I'm sorry to say.

IanG i bet the Grand Prix goes ahaead.
Powerful organization.
$$$$$ will talk here.

no toilet paper, flour, rice, hand wipes, nappies, pasta, 2 minute noodles, frozen veggies, chicken nuggets, tuna, slice bread, hand soap, panadol at the local shops.

If you want stuff you have to line up 7 in the morning

people getting ready to bunker down

Its Starting.
Nothing in my shopping centre.
Two other shopping centres are like ghost towns.
They are all shopping near where i live.
Putting a strain on essential items & food.

"As the leader of the World Health Organization team that visited China, Dr. Bruce Aylward feels he has been to the mountaintop — and has seen what’s possible.

During a two-week visit in early February, Dr. Aylward saw how China rapidly suppressed the coronavirus outbreak that had engulfed Wuhan, and was threatening the rest of the country.

New cases in China have dropped to about 200 a day, from more than 3,000 in early February."

"China’s counterattack can be replicated, Dr. Aylward said, but it will require speed, money, imagination and political courage."
So no hope here then.

Interesting definitions in that NYT article re the categories of severity Lee has been updating us with.

“Mild” was a positive test, fever, cough — maybe even pneumonia, but not needing oxygen. “Severe” was breathing rate up and oxygen saturation down, so needing oxygen or a ventilator. “Critical” was respiratory failure or multi-organ failure.

LTRTR hi.

Do you have any figures for Greece.

I heard that they have gone into lock down as of 2 days ago.

Rumour/fact Grand Prix off.

Hamilton’s voice of reason.

Now reporting that there is no such thing. All systems go with the Grand Prix.

BBC reporting that meeting was held last night and was cancelled.

Confusing.

Dr Anthony Fauci who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and has been at Trump and Pense's shoulder during the coronavirus press conferences has said
"that the U.S was not adequately prepared to monitor a disease like the coronavirus."
"The system is not really geared to what we need right now -- what you are asking for -- that is a failing ... Let's admit it," he told the congresswoman.

Meanwhile Trump is saying that
"The virus will not have a chance against us. No nation is more prepared, or more resilient."

Another sacking is looking ominous.

Surprised that Foxnews reported it.

People lining up at the GP.

What a fiasco.

Premier has said there will be no fans allowed and the GP may not go on.

2 drivers have gone home(allegedly).

Joke

What about people travelling on trains, trams etc.

Need strong decisive action(S) to organise our lives.

Leaving this to the last minute isn’t going to help.

Humans have shown(most) how shellfish we are and KAOS will spread faster that this virus.

With most sporting events globally either being suspended or cancelled, it seems obvious that the AFL will follow suit.

It would seem most prudent to suspend the start to the season for 4 weeks and potentially then adjust the fixture for a 17 game season (assuming that in 4 weeks they may be able to start, either that or a further suspension).

Our fixture allows the AFL to do this with little disruption. I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen.

Posh I think that might be the likely outcome.

As you stated above our fixture allows the adjustment.

Let’s hope this doesn’t escalate into what we are seeing in Europe.

Europe’s cases are not slowing down is the frightening & concerning issue.

ALL of our lives EzyT.

yeah I get it.

But people assume the government are wise and efficient

plant some spuds and pumpkins. punch some holes in squares of newspaper and tie on a string. talk to an old relative (after washing your hands of course)

They have done all this before.

You can get the latest figures here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Greece was +18 for a total of 117, and recorded its first death.
Greece is closing all the courthouses, theaters, cinemas, gyms, children playgrounds and nightclubs in the country, after having already closed the schools two days ago.
