Coronavirus

Sadly it's not so much that he's a moron. .... Surely the bloke is unhinged!
Still thinks this is some sort of **** reality TV show.
How's about his tweet from a few hours ago, threatening Governors if they don't fall at his feet.

He really doesn't remember the Mutiny on the Bounty story. Where Capt Bligh was set adrift at see and the mutineers lived happily ever after with Tahitian women

He's either not in control of his twitter and someone in his campaign is doing it, or he is completely unhinged and most of the time just wings it and does what he feels at that time. My guess its the latter.

How about today - reading out a long list of American companies and CEOs. Why? Who the *smile* knows.

If Hollywood had come out with a movie five years ago about a rogue president who behaved like Trump, it would be dismissed out of hand as unrealistic and simply not believable that Americans would ever elect a president like that.

Singapore's relative relaxed approach seems to have not worked as well as as expected. Infection rates rising consistently with a new record of 386 last night.

We have a problem here in the foreign worker dorms where it seems to be rampant.
Same in UAE. Dubai is in lockdown bc of it. We're in that 300-400 per day for the last week too.

Haven't seen it, but maybe he's been watching TV.

Had to laugh just before. Some people are above the rules. We’ve seen people fined for seemingly frivolous reasons by the cops in Victoria the past few days in regards to social distancing. They’ve also said no unnecessary travel, do not visit other people’s homes even if family, if you don’t live there. On a couple of the news services tonight they had stories about the return to school today. Many kids are learning from home online. And there were the reporters, cameramen, sound people etc doing reports inside other people’s homes to report on it. Is it deemed necessary or is it covered under any of the other criteria to visit others homes? Wonder if the cops will fine them?

The Simpsons had Trump as president about 20 years ago.

Watch it, its become one of the great tragic-comedies

out of interest, is this thread the fastest to 150 pages in PRE history?

Dusty, for example, took 15 months

surely relegated Richard Tambling or Liam McBean?

The blaming of WHO for all this is not really justified. They have a budget of about $3 billion p.a. of which less than 1% is dedicated to pandemic monitoring, let's say $30 million p.a, it is very small. The argument has to be that if the international community wants a strong body to monitor these types of things then it needs to make sure that it is properly resourced. I have been told by others close to the issue that they were staggered at how little resource the WHO had to understand the problem back in December/January. They may or may not have been hoodwinked by the Chinese but it is a result of countries all over the world not valuing what a properly funded organisation like the WHO can provide.
There has been plenty wrong with the WHO response to this pandemic and other UN agencies' response to many things over the years, I am not blindly defending its performance, but the expectation of them is ridiculous from some.
In terms of actions on the ground countries like Australia don't rely on the WHO but underdeveloped countries do. They are doing an enormous amount of work on response in Africa in particular but also in parts of Asia.
We need them to monitor what is happening across the world with the pandemic, rich countries fund their own response
Trump is going to demonise the organisation but whatever their failures they don't explain why the US has 30% of the world's infections and more than 26,000 people dead. It is a dangerous deflection

Trump is right to criticise WHO to a degree & criticism is definitely justified. Removing their funding during a pandemic isn't that smart though I would have thought.
WHO's early performance in this crisis was more focused on saving Chinese Face & their economy than protecting the rest of the world.
They were slow to recognise the seriousness of this disease & tiptoed around it.
China however is far more at fault here for their lies & coverups & clearly kept the WHO in the dark.
It's China that deserves the most blame here for the disaster the world is facing.

That said Trump is clearly exaggerating WHO & China's failures purely to take the focus off his own failures to act during February that put his country at risk.
He's right to be copping a heap of criticism for that but it shouldn't excuse China & the WHO's failures. Not one bit.

Course it isn't because he's doing it purely to take the focus off his failures.

the WHO thing is a joke. sure, they're not perfect, but they are badly needed in poor countries. i still believe americans are stupid enough to re-elect him.

Gotta say I find it strange that Victoria has tested less than half as many people as NSW and even less than QLD. Also our total number of tests isn't even double that of SA and there'd be around 4 times as many people in VIC as SA.

Victorias testing per capita is extremely low in comparison to other states; what's going on with that?

It's more than "not smart" it's dangerous.

He would be pulling money from efforts like the eradication of Polio, TB , Malaria and other Infectious diseases which makes up the vast majority of the WHO's budget

But Trump doesn't care
