Connors

Sad but predictable finale to a career blighted by controversy. Not the end of the world given he was a peripheral player, but a waste of talent nevertheless.

Nevertheless he wasted a spot on the list and cost the club a lot of wasted money.
I don't know why we should pay out his full contract, but if he's found to have breached his contractual obligations, surely it should be a lot less than his full contract.
I remember reading somewhere the actual cost of drafting a player, not just his playing contract but it was a fairly hefty sum.
If the club has done all it could and gave him several chances to turn his life/attitude etc around why should the full financial burden be borne by the club?

Unsubstantiated speculation regarding off-field behaviour by so-called supporters of the club on internet forums does nothing but stoke the fire.

What is the fire and how do comments on PRE stoke it?

Make no mistake about it Dan Connors is one very talented footballer we have let go. His return match against GWS was one of the resons we got across the line.
Rememberb DH after the game saying he had won back the respect of the coaches down at the club?
I would have thought his comeback would have squared the ledger somewhat.
Gee how quicky people forget what its like to be young! we all make mistakes!
So hows our forward line looking at the moment??

While Hardwick gave Connors a little boost-along, I though his praise was measured.

Yeah he has talent, but Fevola had talent, Laurie Angwin had talent. The benefits have to be balanced against the cost to the club, and 29 games in six seasons didn't earn Connors enough points.

Yep he said words the effect that Dan had done enough to figure in our short term plans. I reckon he was gone at the end of the year anyway.

if Dan wants to go on chances are he'll be picked up by someone. Probably Port who have done very nicely trading with us. We gave them Rodan for zip. Scultz for farmer then we realised we were a big man short so we got Miller and now we've lost Dan for zip also.
Go figure...

Mentioned on the footy show by parrot that conners and dimma had to be physically separated during their meeting
I don't reckon it would have ended well for Connors if they had come to blows.

Interestingly, Parrot also reported that it wasn't necessarily Dan being a bad influence on Dusty; it worked both ways.

I'd almost started to feel sorry for Connors; it seemed we'd taken out our exasperation and concern over Dusty on him. Hearing that his leaving the club was a mutual decision was encouraging - sounded like he accepted it, and would learn from it. The TFS report, if true, puts another slant on it. Now I'm worried Connors and Dusty will stay friends, and Connors will work to get Dusty delisted to get back at the club.

Someone reported that Dusty hangs out with Fev, Pettifer and Hislop, too - all delisted. Hope they don't take pride in that, like the bad boys at school who boast of being expelled. An immature, rebellious, easily led young man might get sucked into that. Hope he focuses on "I was born to play footy" instead. And the club, one way or another, have to keep him in good company.

You read wayyyyyyyyyy to much into things! Connors had baggage even before he got to the club. Don't start feeling sorry for him. You make your bed......

Sounds like Parrot's source is Connors' Manager.

Just had to happen, fairly simple.
Also don't believe we will be kicking our selves too much about this one - yes he had talent, but 29 games in 6 seasons probably says more.
