Connors has obviously some deep seated issues and while he will be sacked I think that punishment is enough without people laying the boots in. I hope for Daniels sake that he can get professional help and turn his life around off the field. Mental issues are an illness and I hope he does not do anything to harm himself. Richmond football club gave him a second chance and he unfortunately didnt grasp it.

Please the only mental issues Connors has is he is a deadest wanker. If he had of been given the flick earlier then he wouldn't have dragged one of our better players down with him.

The NDP is alive and well at Richmond. Been a few casualties.

Hopefully not too many more.

If thats the NO Dud Policy my Dear Olden theres still a few but hopefully the No *smile* Policy is working.

Although I mightn't have used such colourful words I agree on the first part brig. Should have been moved on earlier. Very disappointed with our handling of this. I don't agree on the second part though. I doubt anyone shoved the pills and drink down Dusty's throat. Hopefully it's a timely error that will teach him about duty and responsibility. I hope he's not blaming anyone else for his actions.

A bad apple....... I think we are better off without him ,

This wasnt just about the sleeping pill or the being late for training,

It was the club saying ,you have had your chance, we have had enough , your negatives outweigh your positives , see ya later.

Spot on DDT of course it does its not a one off this is the final straw for multiple indescretions and poor behaviour, the kid is an idiot has proven it over his time at RFC and a waste of time, money and space.

RFC is the winner here well and truly for the first time in a long time i am applauding a decision by Cameron.

No doubt Hardwick and the leaders wouldve had a say also.

If the leadership group has had a say in it then that bodes well for the future of the club.

I get the feeling the real story has a bit more to it.

I'm certain it does - Connors goes willingly and the club pays out his contract. I expect he'll have some journo's chasing him. Not sure the whole truth would reflect well on Connors though.

I just meant that Cuz was a superstar, where as Connors has never shown much really besides a few glimpses. He'll never play AFL football again.

Not sure I agree with your last sentence skip. GWS might give him a run, would fit in well in their "Housos" heartland ;)

You wonder if one day it finally kicks in with a bloke like Connors that he's just wasted a good opportunity.
For his own sake - hopefullyit might be soon and next year he ends up playing somewhere and makes amends.
But I guess it's also possible it might not be for 5-10 years - after it's all too late. Will he then look back on 2012 and think ... "if only"?
It's a bloody shame really to see anyone with potential just waste it.

Personally I thought Dan was probably shot as a player anyway. I thought his last game was poor and I can't see a position he can contribute long term at his level of fitness.

Maybe a year off will allow his quad/mind to heal and he can start his career somewhere else.

Maybe football isn't the be all and end all? Reckon a few underestimate the sacrifices involved. Don't really understand why so many hold them in such high regard.

No its not the be all and end all BCL, but at the time when you are that age and have the opportunity
to partake in it, it should be the most important thing that you have in your life. Many people don't
have the talent to make it that far in any sport or life choice, if you can then you grab it with both
hands and enjoy it whilst you have it. To get there and then blow it is nothing but a waste and
given time one hell of a big regret.

You can never make it back up, what happens today, can be gone tomorrow, so make the best of
what you have and enjoy as you just never know. Its a very sad day for Dan Connors, one that he
will look back on with much regret in future years.

Maybe connors and fevola can now knock off a few beers and realise they have both ruined their afl careers. Absolute disgraces. And if its true fev's still out on the *smile* with a family consisting of 2 kids after all that's happened then good riddance on that man.

I agree Martin is responsible for his own actions but we do know he and Connors are close it's not really that much of a stretch that the influence of the older bad apple rubbed off. Then again most know of my feelings towards Connors maybe I am biased.

Sad but predictable finale to a career blighted by controversy. Not the end of the world given he was a peripheral player, but a waste of talent nevertheless.
