RalphyHeraldSun AFL says Demons get two first round picks for Scully, Ward and Phil Davis worth end-of-first-round picks. Scully much bigger contract 37 minutes ago · reply · retweet · favorite

Yep. Ch 10 news mentioned it too.

Looks like the Dees have failed twice. Scully gone and Lyon's decided to stick with the Saints.

Terry Wallace might dust off his resume.......

:hihi Leysy thinking Doggies would get 2 first round picks for Ward.

If that;s what Scully got then fair enough.

Ward is the better performed and more important player that has exited.

No way, don't see the hype with Ward. Scully will be a much superior player.

What a ridiculous competition it is now where next year the top money earners will be:

* Scully
* Ablett
* Ward
* Davis
* Folau

Will be? Maybe I don't doubt he "may" be.

But Ward is no mug and has runs on the board.

I ask you, who has been hurt more by their player leaving? The Doggies or Demons?

Sometimes projecting players futures is a dangerous thing, for instance in Tamblings second year if he had dashed off to GWS we would be livid and would have asked for top picks, we all know how bad he turned out to be as a footballer. He was at that stage considered to be the best Aboriginal kid ever.

Judging a player's worht is so arbitrary. That's probably why they decided to make the most dominant factor the salary of the player when deciding on compensation. What is our extra pick gong to be worth with all these priority picks being thrown around, it's getting silly.

Must be the Dees considering Scully was their future. Dogs have matured and can cover Ward easily.

With Cooneys knee just about shot, the Doggies are going to feel the effect of Wards loss much more than Melbourne at this stage. They potential could be missing 2 A grade midfielders next year.

Lucky though long term they have Libba and Wallis coming through.

Hmm, hard to say. Probably slightly the Dogs because they lack young mids on their list. That has little to do with determining the players individual worth though. That's a list management problem.

Scully is no Tambling and Tambling never showed anything remotely close to what he has early on. Scully averaged over 21 disposals in his first year while undersized including 39 touches and 3 brownlow votes against the Dogs in the wet. Dealt with knee injuries this year but still averaged over 20 touches while in and out. #1 draft pick, on 6 mil that's why he's getting 2 first round draft picks.

Ward is older and in his 4th year, has no achievements to his name. Drafted with pick 19. Still inconsistent and probably was 4th choice mid for Doggies this year. Shows promise but he ain't worth 2 first round picks.

You can add Dalhaus to the list, had an immediate impact and is definitely a keeper.

agree, tho Freo have done very well for themselves I reckon.

Oh for sure. The first round pick is a steal for them.

The Crows, Dogs, Demons and Dockers should all be active at the trade table.

These compo picks will spice things up. Could be a lot of deals. Time for smart thinkers.

I know Ward is a better and more explosive user, but if you look at their disposal and contested ball winning it is already almost identical. When you factor that Ward is two years older and Scully has been injury affected.... I know who I would rather have
