can somebody please clear this up for me have we won a game this year that ive missed?Crackerjack said:he has turned into a matchturner for us over the past few weeks with his hard runing and tackling should be a co captain with Richo next year. They need to push him into the midfield more often so he can have a bigger impact.

Who did he match up on? Did he play loose in defence in the holes? Any chases?

I think you'll find that Brisbane were playing a negative fwd on him for much of the match to curtail his creativeness from half back. Selwood went to him early and stayed on him for a while.

Thanks, BT. What did you think of his game?

I thought he was down on his performances so far this year. He struggled to get the creative run that has been his strong suit to date. It cost us a bit too IMO.

Let Saturday night tell the tale, but like someone said previously, only a hand full of players are cemented week in week out. Newman is definitely one of them, he is in our top 3 in my opinion.
Newman should stay where he is, because his defensive skills are of great beneit, although when played man on man, his accountability is something that you have to question. In saying that, he isnt a man on man backman, using him on the back flank/wing is ideal for everyone.

Go Chris and lets hope you have a win in your 100th game.

Instead of the personal abuse why don't you try and answer the criticism. Chris may be one of our better players but b/c of his lack of respect for opponents he remains a liability in our defensive half and costs us plenty. Why not try him on the wing?hellenictiger said:momentai said:I can just see our opponents half forwards arguing about who gets to play on Newman. Lets just eat away at our own like we always do.
I honestly cant believe some of the no brainers getting on here and bagging one of the most commited and talented players in our side. He has played for the club from day one and it will stay like that until his career ends.
Anyone who has half a clue about what they are talking about regards Chris Newman as one of the best players in our team. On Triple M after the Essendon game all the panelists talk in high regard of Chris and rated him up there with our best.
9/10 so far after snapping his leg last year, uses his brain just as good as any other player in the team and rarely wastes a kick.
