Changes Vs the Power Ranger

Based on the Scratch Match report I'd say Astbury is unlikely to play against the Crows. Broad is a big chance to come in, especially since he was tried in the ruck as a 'Grigga' 2nd ruck option and he's about the same height. Lets Balta stay in his best position down back.
Think they will give Astbury another couple of weeks before bringing him in. Big risk playing only a half of footy. ?

SEN this morning - Jordan Lewis banging one about Rohan not playing... Stanley, Ablett and Selwood to come back. The prelim last year they were without Hawkins. Seriously these idiots are delusional. We should’ve won by 7+ goals on the weekend without our reigning BnF winner, a 2019 All Australian, a pretty handy duel premiership defender in Dave Astbury..... oh and we were 2 down in the second half. Does any of that get a mention? No of course not.

It's unbelievable the level of depth that we have. Unfortunately, there are going to be a few disappointed players in the coming weeks when Dave, Edwards, and Prestia look to come back in. Broad played really well so he may also come into calculations. Not sure about Caddy though first full game back since his hammy.
Was happy to see Prestia in those pics, Dimma said he will play a scrimmage game on the bye weekend before finals.
Yep, that depth is our greatest weapon yet it wasn't so long ago it was our biggest weakness. Our list development is a competition leader turning many late picks and rookies into very good players, even premiership players.
We all hope Dion can be ready for finals but does he have time to get the km into his legs to be able to run 10 to 12km in a game? We cross our fingers.

In: Chol, Broad, Edwards
Out: Soldo, Lynch, Ross

B. Broad, Balta, Grimes
HB. Houli, Vlastuin, Short
C. Markov, Graham, McIntosh
HF. Rioli, Cotchin, Aarts
F. Riewoldt, Martin, Castagna
Foll: Nank, Lambert, Bolton
I/C: Baker, Pickett, Chol, Edwards

Sounds like Broad is being trained to play wing/relief ruck. Interesting.

Maybe the end goal is that Chol will be replaced by Lynch when he is ready with Broad the relief ruckman?

Too clever by half I recon. should work as well as graham and caddy to the wing and a slimmed down Ross to Half back

all the talk of playing to peoples streangths And we keep trying to Frankenstein players to fit a position we already have covered. I don’t like it at all and it stinks of desperation.

if true....

Hopefully, since prelim night when the circus act got a hold of us, we've learnt to never play anyone that's not right in a final again.
Just like you @tigermike , I'd love him to play but as a club we tell everyone we're system based, so let's continue on that path and when players miss out, we feel for them at the same time celebrating those given the opportunity to make their own mark!
In the end, whichever way they go... in Dimma I trust!

On Broad, It's actually being proactive. He's not likely to get back into that backline, 9 players doesn't go into 7. Well, neither does 8, Grimes, Astbury, Balta, Houli, Vlastuin, Short, Baker, and Markov. Even Markov likely to push to the wing or maybe get squeezed out altogether even though I think he has played well.
Training Broad as a winger, relief ruckman that's not to say he will play but if something goes down (injury) we are ready. Good forward-thinking by the club.

I love our wings at present (not in stats but effect), I wouldn't be swapping out Marlion or Kamdyn even though Marlion is a capable mid.
Broad hasn't shown he can play anywhere but back, (which is no fault of his own as he hasn't be tried elsewhere), not time to experiment for mine.
There is nothing wrong with Broad's aerobic capacity but unlike others I don't think he would be a hit on the wing.

I saw Broad play on a wing at Punt Road on a wing before he played a seniors match, it was against Bulldogs. BOG. Harder position in AFL.

Mabs for Soldo, RCD in debut to take Ross' spot. Shedda as a H/F for Lynch.

Whats with the RCD hope and prayers?

On the last scratch match footage, where they had a camera dedicated to every senior listed player and looped their highlights,

RcD featured once.

Hugo looked ahead in the queue.

Ive got nothing against blind optimism,
But i reckon the RCD participates in fairy tale back2back campaign narrative

Is very far fetched.

Even modern RfC will still have the odd bust

Especially given Ross played well last week I thought.
