Changes Vs the Power Ranger

Rioli’s ankle seemed to trouble him, so he could be the out that makes way for Edwards. Chol and Broad or DTLD are the other ins to cover the injuries. Caddy is also an option. We know he and Jack work well in the forward line.

Those calling for Balta to go forward - there is no way this is happening. He has been in the top 3 or 4 key defenders competition wide this season?! Why mess around with that as we are entering a finals series.

Agree. Insane to do that to a young guy too.

Chol will have to be selected, even if just to give Nank a chop out before the bye. He could also pinch hit at full forward.
If he shows his worth against Adelaide then he will hold his spot for the finals. If not, then another, possibly Grigg-like, option will be utilised.
For some reason I am not much fussed if Astbury plays or not. Not diminishing his worth to the team, but reckon we can cover him. Then, maybe, he could be utilised up forward???
Broad and Caddy are the ones that interest me. For some reason, both have fallen out of favour with Dimma/selectors. Come finals, I think both could be very handy additions to the side

And being the fool I am, I completely about the inclusion of Edwards who must come straight back into the side ... maybe at the expense of Rioli (injury?)

Can't take the Crows lightly, though if they *smile* up tomorrow and roll Carlton, they're in danger of going above North on the ladder, in which case, I'd expect them to tank next week to guarantee pick 1 in the draft. On the other hand, they would love to beat us.

Chol for Soldo and Dave for Lynch. Edwards for Ross probably. Or they could go with Dave forward and second ruck and also bring in Caddy.

Out: Lynch, Soldo

In: Chol, Sheds

Dusty plays FF, Marlion in the guts, sheds on the wing

for me.

maybe freshen someone up with Broady? maybe give DTLD a blow out?

dont think we will get cute though. Its well and truly business time.

I was initially going to say Caddy and Chol in for Soldo and Lynch and then try and find someone else for Sheds, but I think you might be onto something with Dusty playing forward more of the time.

I'd say thats a distinct possibility, not the first time we've done that, but I'd have Sheds in the guts and leave Pickett on a wing, so for me

Out Soldo, Lynch
In Sheds, Chol

If Astbury is fit then maybe he gets a run at it but no idea who for unless someone needs a rest.

A lot of our team selection may come down to West Coast, if somehow they lose to North then maybe we provide those in need of a rest a bit more time, particularly those carrying injuries. I expect WC to win so I don't think it will come down to this.

I think Dimma mentioned Caddy in his presser.

Ross would be very stiff to get dropped on his game last night. I reckon he stays in and gets a chance to back it up against the Crows for a finals spot.
FWIW I think Markov will be the unlucky one with Astbury coming back as we'll be too many defenders and Grimes would be freed up to play on the small forwards. Balta, Astbury, Grimes with Baker, Vlastuin, Houli, Short is our best back 7.

Out Soldo, Lynch, Markov
In Chol, Astbury, Edwards

Will be tough on Markov to be dropped.
Has done everything asked of him.

Geez, 2 big injuries and we still have trouble fitting in players who would likely get a game with any other side.

Balta: for a few years it was a question as to where he would play. The club has invested a lot of time and effort into making him a key defender. Absolutely no way they throw that away by swinging him forward, none. Would be silly.

Chol to replace Soldo. Soldo is better but injured. Maybe we ruck Nank in the middle, Chol forward and Balta back. Chol definitely up forward if he is sharing the centre bounce with Nank.

Astbury, if fit, must return. Maybe Markov unlucky, well, very unlucky. He has improved a lot and is playing well.

Shedda: definitely in. Needs game time and is invaluable. Ross might miss out but Shedda is needed in finals.

Some difficult decisions, but a good position to be in. I reckon Lynch is back for finals but Soldo, maybe 2021?

Both are extremely flexible, tough, aggressive, experienced, big-bodied, mid-size players: can cover for either a small or a tall that goes down during the game. Even if they are not currently regarded as being in the starting 18, you need this level of versatility in your 22, especially in finals. Don't be surprised if they're both in the team when things get really serious.
