Changes versus Port

Agree with your Broad comment and I reckon that was why he was included over Caddy - he can play defence, wing or a lock down role and even pinch hit in the ruck although I think that may go to Balta or Astbury.

I listened to SEN this morning hoping for some good footy discussion but they had boring as bat crap Scott on - and then went to horse racing so I turned off in disgust - so SENs strength of talking footy first thing Monday is no longer there.

Does anyone know how to get ABC podcasts of their AFL grandstands which run on Sat and Sunday around midday - Ling, Weedem etc - I want to listen to last Saturdays if possible
Go to your apps store.
Type in abc podcast and download it.
Then go to your browse button bottom right and go to sports & recreation.

snake chose to accept this mission.
Take printed copies of the tickets. I always take a hard copy as a backup in case my phone dies.
When we went to the Adelaide game the 4 of us were scanned straight in with the paper tickets. People using there phones were in queues.
Might be a reflection of SA's lagging adaption of technology.

Hinkley keeps talking about Port getting what they deserve.

In a pandemic season, Port Adelaide have had it easy compared to other clubs. Much easier.

They were able to get on top of the ladder early in the season when we were talking hubs and whether our players should even go.

Port have since proclaimed themselves of having the status of the #1 club this year - and the #1 club of the next 10 years!

Let’s give them what they deserve - a reality check in the form of a thumping.
Port are sounding a lot like the crows in 2017.
didn't end too well.

in 2017, we beat Geelong, GWS and Adelaide in the finals after losing to them all at some point that season.
in 2019, we beat Geelong and GWS in the finals after losing to them both at some point that season.
in 2020, the winners of 5 of the 6 finals were from teams that were defeated by their opponent in their earlier match up this season.

The moral of the story is that we are experts in leaning from previous defeats and it would seem to be an AFL-wide trend in this finals series.

good point. we beat bris, geel beat port, wc beat coll, saints beat us, and coll beat geel during the home and away and all were reversed in the finals

based on that we'll beat port and bris'll beat geel. Then we'll beat bris.

perfect.

I think we are well placed for Friday night. Everyone knows of the difference to our starting lineup compared to earlier in the year. Comparing to that game to suggest what happens in this one, you may as well compare a game from 2010. We won't get smashed at contested ball, clearances, inside 50's like that again. That game was a massive outlier on other 2020 games and especially when you look at the last 4 years of dominance we have had.

Even looking at the Lions game, we lost that in the 2nd quarter, whether that was the 50m penalties, or whether that was failing to score in the first 10-15 mins of the quarter, the dominance we showed in that quarter, we should have been in front at half time and then scoreboard pressure starts to go onto the LIons instead of us.

Q2 we lost by 18 points. The whole game we lost by 15m, yet we were so dominant in that quarter. Lynch would almost certainly have made an impact forward of centre, Chol was invisible that quarter.

If we close that dominance from Port down which they got from the last game (and is probably inevitable) then we should win. I still think we will put a lot of pressure on them offensively, their defence is undersized and slow. They are most likely planning on manning Jack (193cm) with Clurey (193cm) and Lynch (199) with McKenzie (191 cm), going by what they did with Geelong and will have Jonas (188 cm) float around as the spare man taking intercept marks, their Vlastuin. We have to focus on seperation of our 2 forwards, either Jonas needs to go with Lynch / McKenzie and that creates a 1 on 1 for Jack, and Jack is smart enough to make that work, or Jonas goes with Jack / Clurey and Lynch finds himself with a mismatch. I'd probably plan on getting Jack outside of 50 and leave Lynch deep, force Jonas to be a spare man in front of McKenzie, which takes a player out of the contest. You'd almost play Lynch as a decoy, unless we need to bomb it long, and then look for the free player.

Its going to be interesting to see how we play this but their defence is very undersized against someone like Lynch. They seemed ok with giving Hawkins 6 shots at goal. Would have been a different reaction if Hawkins had scored better than 0.5 and 1 out on the full. It was the difference in their elimination final, and we also have a more potent forward line (outside of Lynch) than what Geelong have outside of Hawkins.

I think this is the match up that wins or loses the game for us.

Im having a look at the game again atm. Was absolutely freakin feral. We didnt defend very well in the 50. They had too much space too often. Stack was invisible. Eggs was overwhelmed. Jack Ross was ok but couldnt go for 4 Qs. Chol had his best game for the club. . But Dion and Shank are back in I think thats huge for us. They were pretty much full strength I think.

Yeah that was the game where we saw the very worst of Eggy. I'd go all in on getting a better game out of Bachar, seems very low risk that Bach would serve up worse than that being as he has never played a game worse than that.

Plus our Capt with the prelim crazy laugh

Makes us 4 goals better

For the first time this season I think we go into Friday Night's game as the hunters. Port are the hunted.

In saying that, I reckon Port mind's are around playing a Prelim against premiership favourites Richmond. Ours are around playing in another Prelim. We want our Prelim score to be 3-1, not 2-2. Who we play is secondary.

Hey @eZyT if there's one bloke I can't stand it's David Koch. ... any chance you can wear a Karl Stepanovic mask and if he ventures into your area.... flash him a browneye?

Ps. You lucky bastard. ... tho there is the downside of having to listen to the 'never tear us apart' rubbish pregame.. I've found its a good time for a slash;)

Only Problem is if we play Geelong in the GF, then we are screwed based on that logic.

I'd rather he put a Marlion Pickett type tackle on Koch's head.

dunno what the hell happened there, quadruple post?? then I somehow deleted the original and the other disappeared.

wasn't very important. I was saying snakes going to the prelim, not me. But he is orders of magnitude more reckless and uncensured at the footy.

he makes me look like a non-verbal gentleman.

so we are well represented.
