Changes versus Port

Hinkley keeps talking about Port getting what they deserve.

In a pandemic season, Port Adelaide have had it easy compared to other clubs. Much easier.

They were able to get on top of the ladder early in the season when we were talking hubs and whether our players should even go.

Port have since proclaimed themselves of having the status of the #1 club this year - and the #1 club of the next 10 years!

Let’s give them what they deserve - a reality check in the form of a thumping.
AFL history, and the history of all team sports, is littered with teams who haven't got what they '"deserved" . We didn't get what we deserved in 2018 when we were clearly the best team in it all year and fell short.
I would love them to take that attitude into the game on Friday night

There are no guarantees.
There are no teams deserving.
It’s who wants it more. Who is willing to feel the pressure, feel that bone crushing hit, get up & go again.

Who wants it more.

Victoria: World’s longest lockdown
SA: World’s largest heads

Think about everything we’ve been through this year and compare that to your average SA supporter and Port Adelaide player.

They don’t deserve *smile*.

We still can’t go 6km for a sushi, and yet 26,000 rabid Port fans can attend the game and joke about the rest of the country like the world hasn’t changed. Port’s leaders acted above the law by freely transporting friends and family across the country in a pandemic to gain the upper hand and win games of football.

Meanwhile, we encouraged senior players to put family over football, knowing they’d miss a majority of the season. But we had two 20yos who made a mistake and somehow we’re the bad guys?

Port sure as hell don’t deserve to win the “Pandemic Premiership” and everything it represents.

Lockdowns, the Round 12 match, talent - none of that matters now. It’s time to show Port Adelaide’s leaders, once and for all, how much we’re enjoying the seasons we’re having.

Old mate Kane Kornes seems very confident that his old team will get the job done.

been in the Ticketek queue for 20 mins.

They are giving AFL Members and AO members access the same time as RFC and PAFC members,

which with 26,000 seats, is a bit *smile* I reckon

McGuane's analysis was good but I think most of us would disagree about bringing Chol in. Even though Chol could ruck and would have a much freer hand up forward with both Lynch and Reiwoldt there he just does not bring the intensity needed for a Preliminary Final.

No change.

But, of course there is one forced change:

Out: Carrara

Bit of a difference - MCG is black outline and yellow fill, other ground is red outline and no fill. Note, assumes symmetrical oval whic is never the case.

I might start a thread about all the grounds this as a reference.

The thing that does make a difference is shallower wings so I reckon we really need to win the centre clearances or make Port's centre clearances pressured and dirty as we can't let them straight out of the middle so easily this time. We have the players back to do this.

Got some good seats.

I was just having the usual Ticketek prelim panic attack.

Those shallow wings are our only concern.
Its easier to close the holes.

We were efficient against Port because they give you a real good look if you break their forward press.

Since we are often silk on transition, D50 aerial intercept is a viable path to goal for us.

Now that we’ve added a entire ball-winning midfield since we last played them, clearance is also a viable path to goal.

Finally, we know Port mids have iffy disposal, especially if pressured. So general turnovers are a viable path to goal.

All they have is their one wood - stoppages. Both centre clearances and around the ground.

One viable path to goal vs our three.

People will be surprised by how much we win this game. I won’t be.

Not sure any need for changes now , go for continuity,

the broad inclusion could turn out to be a masterstroke I’m hoping , with an extra defender gives us more flexibility with matchups and who we send into the ruck .

keen to see the young colt unleashed again

they will tackle us out of the game according to cornes on SEN ,

he later asked whately who he is picking , he said I think if Richmond produce their best they beat everyone,

cornes seemed surprised

Agree with your Broad comment and I reckon that was why he was included over Caddy - he can play defence, wing or a lock down role and even pinch hit in the ruck although I think that may go to Balta or Astbury.

I listened to SEN this morning hoping for some good footy discussion but they had boring as bat crap Scott on - and then went to horse racing so I turned off in disgust - so SENs strength of talking footy first thing Monday is no longer there.

Does anyone know how to get ABC podcasts of their AFL grandstands which run on Sat and Sunday around midday - Ling, Weedem etc - I want to listen to last Saturdays if possible
